i stare down at the picture frame of me and taeil from our high school graduation. i tear up and hurry to put the frame back in the closet before tears can stream down my face.

"nova! i made dinner for us." my friend luca yelled from down stairs.

"hey luc." he turned around and smiled and set the food down in front of me.

"so are you ready to go back to seoul, bright and early tomorrow?" he says as he stuffs his face.

"sadly no, but yuta is ready for me to go back he says he has this big surprise for me." i say in a sarcastic tone.

"well you need to go, i think it'll be good for you, you know since you haven't seen or spoken to tae-"

"yah, you don't need to remind me."

"well excuse me miss sassy." he mimics in a way.

"i'm sorry luca, can you help me finish packing? i barely started and if i'm going to be gone for two months then i need a pep in my step on packing." he nods and puts our dishes into the sink.

we go up to my room and he's pulling clothes out of my closet while i'm pulling from the drawer, he is being a little too quite so i know he has to be snooping. i turn around and he's looking at the picture of taeil and i.

"i think you should take this with you." he zips it in my luggage.

"why? it's been four years i think i need to give up now." i sigh putting my head down.

"no ma'am that is not an option, you haven't talked to him or at least tried to talk to him during those four years and you barely reconnected with yuta last year, things might've changed love." he comes over to hug me to try and comfort me but i just cried harder.

"why did that have to happen to us?" i am laying down on my floor at this point.

"things happen for a reason nova, but who knows things might spark up between you two, maybe even better than before." he tries to lighten up the mood.

i look at my phone and see that it is already one am, i set my alarm for four am that way luca can take me to the airport and i'll be on my way to see taeil, someone i never thought i'd get the chance to see again.

i wake up to the buzzing sound of my alarm, i go get ready in the restroom.

"luca! wake up please." i yell from the restroom. i hear him groan really loud and i let out a chuckle.

time passed and it was now time to head to the airport. we listen to music on the way there and i am feeling really good. we arrive at the airport, i gather all my things and luca grabs me really tight and hugs me.

"whatever happens you'll always have me here, back home. stay safe. i love you nova. text me when you arrive there and please don't forget child!" he says really emphasizing the last part because that's a bad habit of mine.

"i love you too luc. and i will i will! also if i forget then you have my location, genius." he lightly laughs and waits for me to get inside the building i turn around and he waves as he gets back into his car.

as soon as i check my bags in i feel my phone buzzing, i look down to see yuta blowing up my phone.

the plane landed and i was now just waiting to grab my bags. nervousness ran through my body as i was back in my hometown.

i haven't been here in 4 years. after graduation i moved to illinois with my parents. i eventually moved o it and now live with my best friend luca. since my parents moved with me, i never really needed to go back to korea.

i waited outside for my uber, as it arrives i give the address that yuta gives me to the uber driver.

at last, i arrive to what i hope is yuta's place. i go up to the apartment and knock but there's no answer.

i hear the piano playing so i assumed that he couldn't hear my knock. i turn the door knob and walk in to not see yuta playing the piano, but taeil.
