Nova's POV:
6 weeks skip
I started school and to be honest it wasn't going the best. I wasn't really talking or hanging out with any of my friends.
I just wish Harper was still here. I mean we text and call all the time but she's not actually here.
Payton has been really great but sometimes he just seem sorta, distant? Like he used to respond to my text right away and always pick up the phone when I called.
But lately he hasn't been. He might just be busy doing his own thing.
Carl is officially moved in, and I've learned a lot more about him. He plays baseball and travels quite a bit to play so I'm not sure how that's going to work with my mom.
It was a Friday night and was about 10:00pm at night and I was laying in bed looking at the ceiling. Then I started to over hear my mom and Carl talking in the kitchen.
I got up and walked over to the top of the stairs and started to listen to their conversation.
"I'm going to have to leave for 7 months for baseball" Carl said. "That's a really long time, but I guess alright" my mom sighed.
"One of these times I'm going to bring you with me and then you can watch me play" Carl smiled taking her waist and spinning her around to face him.
"I would love to but, we're going to have to wait for Nova to finish high school, I'm not going to leave her home by herself" my mom responded.
"She's almost 17, and she's very responsible I think she could handle 7 months alone" Carl said raising a brow.
"I think she would be capable of staying alone but it's just me being a mom, I don't want to have to worry that she's not okay" my mom said.
"I guess" Carl said in agreement. "What do you plan on getting her for her birthday?" Carl asked. "I don't know, presents are so hard" my mom said with a slight chuckle.
I don't even know what I want for my birthday. What would I want?
To see Payton. But I have school, damn.
Homeschool? But what if I don't know how to do something? I won't have a teacher to ask for help. Payton's homeschooled, I could just ask him what to do.
Is that really what I want for my birthday though? To go homeschooled and see Payton? I mean if I go then my mom could go with Carl and I'll be with Joanne so my mom won't have to worry.
I wouldn't mind spending my birthday with the Moormeiers.
Well here goes nothing.
"Mom?" I asked taking a step down. "Yes?" She replied. "Can I talk to you?" I asked "of course sweetheart" she responded walked up towards the stairs
"So you don't know what to get me for my birthday?" I asked. "Not yet but I'll figure it out" my mom sighed.
"I was thinking for a birthday present could I possibly go homeschooled and go to Payton's?" I asked with puppy dog eyes.
"Go homeschooled?" My mom questioned. I nodded my head. "And go to North Carolina" I added.
"What wrong with your school your at right now?" She asked.
"I don't really talk to anyone so I was thinking to just go homeschooled, and since Carl wants you to go with him I could just go to Payton's while you go with him" I said.
"I don't know" my mom said with an unsure look on her face. "Please mom it's my 17th birthday" I pouted.
"You can call Joanne anytime to check up on me. I don't think she would mind if I stayed" I added. She still had an unsure look on her face.
