Chapter 33

Mara's Pov

He tortured me to denouement. Betrayed my trust holding relations with other women and did many sinful things that a man ought not to do to his wife. Still with everything he did to me I espoused him and accepted him back in my life when I understood he was a reformed human. For, he was still the man I love till the stars go dim and tides no longer turn.

But, when I inferred the origin of our relationship was itself a lie, a deceptive nuptial arrangement to seal my lips against getting justice for my parents I couldn't stand him anymore. The actuality is he isn't capable enough to deserve even my hatred. I loathe him so much. He married me to cover up his brother's mistake and protect the reputation of his family. There are certain things which turn up in your life, that you are supposed to renounce to move on and stay happy. Shannon was one of them.

Today my daughter's life is in danger because of him. He is a cold hearted business tycoon who has enemies all over the world. Some effeminate gutless sissy wanted to avenge his anger on Shannon using my daughter. It is long proven, he is not a man who is clean. For a guy who doesn't even hesitate to kill a person to retain his class will obviously have enemies all over the world. He is a cheater whose accord was disloyal since the inception of our association. So I made up my mind to stay away from him.

Seven days later....

I was preparing breakfast for me and my daughter. It was well past nine and I am already late to work. Today I have to go and meet my father too. It seemed to me from his jubilant voice from yesterday, he had some great news to share. My brother is expected to come home today and meet me after completing his MBBS in flying colours. Excitement is a small word to describe my happiness at present. I was about to put the last sandwich in the plate when I heard the calling bell.

"Princess, open the door. Your uncle might be at the entrance." I call my daughter in elevation. When I got no response from her, I reached the door myself, illuminated in a thousand watt smile when my leg almost trips stamping on an envelope. I take the cover in my hands, curiosity overpowering me as I open it and then suddenly all the glitter is lost out of my face.

I read the letters scribbled in the letter.

"Hi Sweetheart,

Get rid of your little brat soon or else you would regret your mistake all your life. I wanted to liberate her from this world with not much suffering for your sake but your hero of a husband was a tough son of a bitch. He won't let his daughter go easy. Oops, but remember this time there won't be a slip. Drive away that dirt and that Romeo of yours at the earliest to be mine before I end her insufferably or else you know the consequences will be too bad.

Your Secret Admirer."

By the time I completed reading the letter I was in a pool of sweat and a quivering mess. I wipe my face frenzied with a kitchen rag that I was holding and took long breaths to control my pressure. So this wasn't because of Shannon that Amaira's life was endangered but because of me. The realization swept me with guilt for I accused him of something he wasn't responsible for. At the same time I was worried for my innocent daughter

I tried to find answers for my questions by searching my mind. Did I know someone in the past that was making sheep eyes at me, someone who tried to be close, or someone who was too cozy and flirting? For all the questions I tried the only answer I got was a big 'no'.

Who could this be? My anxiety was looping me up. The more I thought about the matter, the greater my worry. Everything will be alright. Shannon will take care of Amaira. You might have broken ties with him but Amaira will always be his daughter. He is an unbeaten entrepreneur and nobody would dare to mess with his daughter. I blew the same mantra in my ears repeatedly and put my feet to action.
