Fuel to Fire

chapter twelve

"WHAT THE HELL FAYE?" Dominic screamed from across the dining hall. I dropped my french toast at the sound of his voice. Perfect. I throw the tongs in anger back on the plate. I see a few kids stare at me throw it back with wide eyes and their mouths open. "Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean tha-" I was stopped by Dominic pulling me into the nearest empty hallway.

"Why didn't you tell me Nova was coming?" he whisper-yelled. Oh shit. I stammered looking for an excuse "Um... yeah, you know what It was all your mom's idea". His nose scrunched up and I took it as an opportunity to scurry off. I couldn't handle a confrontation from Dom right now. I run off not even paying attention to where I was going, anywhere was better than where I was.  I opened the door near me and slammed it shut. With my back against the door, I finally had the chance to catch my breath. Only to lose it again as I see who's room it is. Alec was stepping out of the shower with only a towel hanging on his waist and I screamed. He dropped the towel he was using to dry his hair at the sound of my voice.

"Oh my god!"

"Oh my moon goddess!" I cover my eyes and turn around to face the door.

I could hear Alec's footsteps as the floorboard cracked "Faye? What are you doing here?"

Good question, so good that I myself didn't have a good answer.

I laughed almost not being able to get a word out knowing he was right behind me "Well, Dominic was confronting me about Nova and I ran as soon as he got distracted. I guess I subconsciously went to where I wanted to be". I hated being mushy and Alec realized this when I started whining at the sound of him making kissy noises and cooing awes. I tried to force a smile but I ended up sticking my tongue out.

"It's cool, you want me".

"Shut up Hale", I left in the same amount of time I had been there and shut the door behind me.

Everyone had been rounded up to meet up in the same training room from yesterday. Kira had made some calls and Nova would be coming today to help. Dominic was still mad at me and walked away before I got my apology out. I knew he was butthurt about Nova's visit but he was being ridiculous. His problem with Nova was her unpredictability. She was a short fuse and in a way stronger. She was more witch than wolf. As kids, Dominic always dreaded having to hang out with her even though they were cousins. He'd always drag me with him to their playdates. I stopped going when she tried to set my hair on fire after I picked her favorite barbie to play with. Although the same age as us, she made sure we knew she wasn't our equal.

Alec was the first to speak up about her punctuality or lack of, "what's her deal, she's already 15 minutes late. let's start without her".

Kira put her hand up, "Don't get frustrated, it triggers you. Plus, she's here".

The doors opened violently and slammed across the wall. I took a peek at Dom and he was already rolling his eyes. I turned my attention to the doors and walked in Nova with a smug look on her face, "Aunt Kira!", Kira walked over and embraced the redhead in a hug.

Dominic began making fake gag noises and Xavier had to step in to punch his arm to get him to start behaving. I noticed Arden was also rolling her eyes; Nova didn't make a good impression on anyone. Suppressing my laughter, I turn and see she's already coming my way.

"Oh Faye! You got rid of the bangs, this hairstyle looks so much better!" I gritted my teeth to keep myself from saying something I wouldn't regret but knew I didn't want to ruin Alec's chance of getting help. I slowly retracted my hand, this bitch.

She almost skips as she makes her way to Alec, "Wow Faye! What a looker you've got". She bites her lip and I hear myself lowly growl. Alec's head snaps to me, Are you alright?

I nod, choosing not to respond mentally while everyone was around.

"So," Nova mentions, "My aunt filled me in. It's such a shame the witches hate people like you. Personally, I think we're quite similar. I imagine with proper training, you'd be able to do anything you desired". I did not like the tone of her voice, she was trying to get a rise out of me but I was not gonna let her win.

Like the devil she is, she swiftly turned around and was able to lift a row of arrows that were hanging on the walls, barely lifting a finger. She flicked her wrist and the arrows were coming towards me in a matter of seconds. Before I could process it Alec screamed, "NO!" his hand was shooting forward and the arrows stopped inches away from my face.

This was when Dom stepped in, "What the Hell Nova? You could have taken her eye out!" She laughed like the little deranged bitch she is, "'Calm down cousin. Your mom told me he reacts with emotion. What brings more emotion than the idea of your mate being in danger. Oh right, you don't know, because you don't have one". Her grin grew wide knowing Dominic couldn't argue. That was a low blow for Dom. I wanted to reach over and give him a hug but it was far from anything he wanted. I heard Arden scoff and couldn't agree more. Before Nova sat down she curtsies and in the sweetest voice said, "Your welcome. He just controlled one of the 4 elements".

Double update :) Well not really cause it's now 1 am but I loved writing this and Novas character. What do yall think?
