Fuel to Fire

MY HEAD WAS POUNDING and I heard hushed voices. I can feel myself slowly regaining consciousness. I hear a voice and recognize it to be Dominics.

"Is she bleeding?" Everything was black and dark. I wanted to open my eyes but I felt like they were glued shut. I could feel someone caressing my cheek and knew it was Alec as the sparks were waking me up. My eyes shot open and I saw Alec. He was holding me, my body laying across his legs. I reached for my head and felt my heart rate go up at the sight of blood on my fingertips.

I look up to see Dominic and Nova standing over us. She smirks, "Welcome back sleeping beauty". I let out a dry laugh but regret it when my head begins to pound again.

"Great, you're still a bitch," I look around and don't recognize where we are. Where in a some sort room that has hallways. There are four doors. Each one has our initials on it. "Where are we?"  Alec helps me get up and I feel the wound on my head begin to heal once my blood starts flowing. Nova had walked down the hall and was staring at the doors.

She kicks one of the doors and Dominic stares at her like she'd grown two heads. "The bastard put us in a chambre de chasse".

Alec sighs, "Lennox? And what is a chambre de chasse?" Nova walks back over to us. "Yes. Think of it as a spiritual prison in our minds. Right now in the real world we're all unconscious," she points to the doors in each corner. "Each door has something special for us, hence the initials."

I finally feel like I've remained the strength to talk, "And how do we get out?"

Nova looks us straight in the eye, "We have to enter the doors. Once you figure out what Lennox wants from us, we get out to leave. We get transported back to our bodies".

"She's right." Lennox appears out of nowhere, "I've put you here to help you realize why instead of just removing Alec from his gifts, I should inherit them instead". Finally, Lennox's grand plan has been revealed.

Nova questions, "I don't understand. I thought you hated elemental wolves like your father. Why would you want to inherit his gifts?"

He looks at her as if she had magically grown two heads, which at this point wouldn't surprise me. "Can you imagine how powerful I'd be if I took over with his powers? I'd be unstoppable ."

"It still doesn't make sense," Nova shakes her head. "You already have dark magic, what else could you possibly want?" She's practically sneering at him when she finishes.

"I want the power to bring back someone from the dead," he points to Alec, "and he has the power to do it".

It doesn't make sense, "What do you know that we don't?" I question not understanding his sudden interest in elemental powers.

Lennox shrugs, "I read a witches grimoire about elemental wolves after Nova left. After I made her tell me what she'd been helping your mate with, it intrigued me. It claims the elemental wolf can use its earth power to bring back the dead".

Nova interrupts, "So can witches, what your deal?"

Lennox rolls his eyes, "We can bring back the dead but they never stay long".

"That's the whole point, you can bring the dead back for a while but they have to back to what they are: dead".

I don't know what it was but something in Lennox snapped. "I don't want them to go back." He's almost pleading, "I need them to stay".

Nova points her finger at him, "If you think you're gonna get away with this, you're delusional".

Alec, Dominic, and I stand back watching Lennox smile, "Just go through the doors, I'm sure you'll stop resisting when you're done". She flips him off and approaches us. I ask, "Do we really trust the dude and go in the doors?" She turns around and Lennox is fixing his hair.

She shrugs sighing loudly, "It's not like we can leave without going in. Just remember it's just gonna show you what he wants you to see. Don't give in."

I look over to Alec and Dominic and they agree to go in. Nova walks over to Lennox and grabs him by the color, "Hey! What the hell-" she chants Imitanor Pupuls and does some hand motions.

Lennox grumbles a few cuss words and deadpans while Nova walks off. I laugh noticing that when she takes a step so does he. "What did you do?"

She laughs, "A basic mimicking spell, if I have to go through that door so is he. I'm not letting him out of my sight.". We all stand in front of the door designated for each one of us. Dominic is the first to open his and walks in. When he walks in, the door disappears. Alec walks over and embraces me in a  hug. He whispers in my ear, "I love you". I felt like the world was only us at that moment and nothing was wrong. He made my worries disappear.

"I love you too". We kiss and then he walks back to his door. The door closes after him and disappears as well.

Then Nova opens the door and Lennox follows behind, "If you try to pull something, I' ll make sure to do something 10 times worse". Her tone was menacing and from the looks of it, it worked. He swallowed and nodding before entering. The door disappeared and I was the only one left. I take a deep breath before I grab the handle. When I open it, a bright light shines and it takes over my senses. I walk in and gasp at the sight in front of me.

This book is slowly coming to end but I've got more stories :)
