THINGS DIDN'T GO WELL from here. Before I could even reach over to help him, my family and his ran into the bathroom. First came my Aunt Bea, then Xavier and Dom. Following after them was Dean and the twins. The first person to run up to me was My aunt, "Sweetheart, Thank the goddess you're okay! I was so worried something had happened. Why weren't you answering your mind link?"

I hadn't even noticed someone was trying to contact me. I had been so distracted with Alec and it overtook my senses. I opened my mouth to speak when Dean ran over to Alec.

Laughing and patting his back he said, "Oh my, Alec you've done fucked up". The twins ran over and helped Dean carry their brother out of the bathroom. Turning to face my family I said,

"We need to talk. Now."

Xavier and Beatrice began walking over to the council members office while Dominic walked beside me, both of us following them . He put his arm on my shoulder with a worried look on his face, "What the hell happened?"

I decided to stay quiet until we reached the office. Everyone sat down and was waiting for me to speak. I look to my uncle looking at him accusingly,

"Did you know Alec was my mate?" As soon as I said that my aunt's eyes almost flew out of her head and Dominic looked pale.

Sighing my uncle rubbed his face knowing he had to explain. He looked straight at me and said,

"Of course not! The only reason I suggested him was because I looked through his file and it was different. He comes from Alpha blood but is labeled as a Pack warrior".

Oh.

Before I could respond my aunt questioned, "How do you know he's your mate?"

I explained to her what had happened with Dean and how I went to grab his wrist and felt the sparks. Nodding she took a while before she spoke again,

"You can't let him know your mates. He was drunk so he won't even remember. The Lupus trials begin tomorrow and if word of this gets out to the press it could look really bad".

Both Xavier and Dom agreed and eventually so did I. If he was chosen and word got out he was my mate, the press would have their fair share of claiming it was biased. We all left the council room with stoic faces. No one could know what had happened tonight. Whether I wanted to or not, My Duty as the Alpha came first. The Lupine trials begin tomorrow so I decided to dismiss myself from them and went to my room. It was about an hour later when I was finally able to get in my covers and fall asleep. It was the first night in a while where I easily fell asleep.

All the contestants were provided with a big breakfast before the trials started. As I grabbed a slice of french toast, I felt my aunt's presence behind me. She ushered me to the front of the table seating me next to Dom. I was extremely anxious. As soon as breakfast was over everyone was directed to the field behind the castle. The first test of the trials was about to begin. All 100 contestants were separated into 4 groups of 25. I of course spent time looking over each group that moved forward. Currently they were being tested for hand combat.

As Alec's group came forward on the field. I sat up and paid even more attention. If he was my mate, he'd have to work hard at it. Alec was called forward to spar with Dominic. Dominic turned to where I was sitting and winked at me. Alec's head snapped to mine and his eyes showed confusion. That was where he went wrong and Dominic was immediately able to land a blow to his stomach. The punch was hard but Alec barely stumbled. He shook his head and refocused. He moved his stance and lunged towards Dominic. Dominic was pushed to the floor and Alec kept him there until the referee blew the whistle. Dominic looked to me and opened his mind link,

He's strong Faye, but he got distracted in the beginning. He may not remember your mates but the jealousy rolled off him when I winked at you.

I saw this coming and scolded Dom for testing him so early on. Alec walked back to where he had been positioned before and Dominic walked to where I was sitting. His face was bruised but already healing. He pulled back his hair with his hands and smiled. I grimaced at his blood-stained teeth. I announced a 15-minute break for the participants before we would start again. First Dominic had been training with the contestants but now it was my turn. I walked over the weapons table. My eyes caught the black leather gloves and quickly slid them on. I couldn't risk Alec feeling the mate bond when it was our time to fight. As I grabbed a cup of water, my uncle mind linked me,
There's been a change of plans. One of the Hale siblings would like to participate.
I almost spit out the water I was drinking when my uncle gave the news.
Which one? I responded quickly.
Arden Hale.
Alright, I'll allow it. Add her to Alec's team. As soon as I give the order she runs out of the seating area and runs towards Alec's group. Using my hearing I hear Alec as he embraces her in a hug,
"Arden? What are you doing?" She smirks and looks up, "That one dude literally beat your ass in the first 1/2 of your test. One of us has gotta make our parents proud". He reaches down and scruffs her hair up.

I smile knowing she has a fire to her and looking forward to sparring with her.
