THE INSTITUTE WAS INSANELY modern on the inside. Before we walked in, we had the driver drop Kira off at the hotel we reserved for her. A young woman showed us the sleeping quarters and gave us a quick tour of the place. We had the driver drop Kira off at the hotel we reserved for her.
"Welcome to the covens institute, wolves". We turn around at the sound of a deep rough voice.
Lennox Abner, he stands at about 6'1 with a head of golden hair and green piercing eyes. The pure look on this guy's face screams alluring. His eyes darted to Nova, "Nice to see you again". I think I spoke for everyone when he said that it sounded creepy. She ignores his comment. He nods taking the hint, "C'mon, I've had the chefs prepare a special dinner for you guys."
He motions to follow him behind a wall and up a few flights of stairs.
Alec whispers in my ear. "So much for modern right?"
I giggle but stop when Nova glares and put her finger on her lips to shush me. Bad timing Alec. The entire dinner goes by pretty badly. There are obvious tensions between Nova and Lennox while Dominic tells me in our mind link that he feels like a third wheel to both of us. I shrugged not knowing what to say.
"So," Lennox folds his hands neatly, "Faye, How's ruling the Lupine pack?" My head snaps up from the salad I was eating, nearly coughing on a piece of lettuce. I smile "As expected, time consuming and exciting". He nods obviously not caring for what I had to say. I look over and see Alec practically fuming in anger, the poor fork in his hand twisting. I swear I saw drops of steel fall on top of the table. I open our mind link, Calm down, no need to give him a show of your powers right now.
He nods and grabs his water to take a sip.
Lennox coughs obnoxiously. "Well I'm sure all of you are tired. It was nice having dinner with you guys, I'll see you tomorrow for the ceremony". We all rise up from our chairs and begin to make our way out. I'm the second to last near the door, Nova behind me. I hear Lennox call her over and I turn to make sure she's okay. She nods telling me to leave. I close the door behind me and lay my ear against it, thanking the moon goddess for advanced hearing.
"I really want to work things out. I know I got carried around last tim-,"
Novas interrupted. "A little carried away? You threw a sacred knife into my ankle. If anything, it's psychotic!"
He sighs and I imagine him rubbing his hair back out of his face.
"Is there any possibility that I could change your mind?"
Nov stays silent for a while. "You can't fix something that doesn't want to be fixed."
I can hear her heels boots patter on the hard floor, "Nova. If I found out you did something to sabotage the ceremony tomorrow, I will kill you."
I jump at the sound of theseriousness in his tone. I run back up the stairs before Nova could see me. My worries for everyone's safety were rising and causing me to sweat. I breathed in and out a couple times before I walked into the room Alec and I would be sharing.
~
It was around ten when I got showered and into the covers. Alec was already fast asleep, low snores coming from his side of the bed. I on the other hand was wide awake. When I checked the time on my phone it said 1 am. A couple of seconds later I got a text from Nova asking me if I was asleep.
I texted her that I was sadly still awake and she said she'd be outside my door in five minutes. I grab a sweater and pull my hair into a ponytail.
I opened my door and saw her approaching from around the corner. Her pale blue eyes were puffy and brimming with tears.
"Do you wanna talk?"
She nods and I follow her. She takes me into her room and leads me to the balcony. It's a nice view overlooking the city and the life in it.
I gave her a confused look, my room didn't look like this.
"The bastard gave me the Regents bedroom. I'd rather be in my room and that's saying a lot".
In the werewolf community we had Queen, Alpha, whatever. However in the witch community, they were called regent coven leaders.
We take a seat on the small gray individuals seats.
She's slowly breathing back to normal. I decided it was the right time to ask, "How's it like being back?"

"Horrible. I never felt welcomed here and I certainly don't wanna be here longer than needed".
I nod deciding to break away from that topic.
She sniffles, "I haven't been completely honest". I had been fiddling with the sleeve of my sweater when my head snapped up.
"What do you mean?"
She wiped the tears from under her eyes, "It's better if I just show you," she comes closer and tells me to open my mind. I have no idea what this means but I'm guessing she means to trust her and I do. I close my eyes and images begin to appear. I see glimpses of her and Kira when Nova was a toddler. Then it moves to when she first meets Lennox and the rest is unexplainable.
I pull back in confusion, "You guys were friends? And he tried to make you do dark magic?"
She nods, "We were inseparable. Practically best friends. My only friend really; no one wanted anything to do with me because of my parents and the fact that I'm a hybrid. ".
My head is swimming with questions. I stay silent debating If I should tell her about what I heard.
I gulp, "I heard what he said to you, I stayed behind. He said he'd kill you". She nods, "I know. I saw your hair when you ran around the corner," she chuckles. "I have an idea but it's gonna sound insane".
I tell her to spit it out.
"Your immortality was triggered when you were crowned Queen right?" I nod, having an idea where she was going. "If I link myself to you, If he gets the chance to kill me, I'll come back".
I tell her I'd do whatever it takes. We needed her to help us and If I was being honest, I'd grown to really like her in the past few days. Our days of foolish immature actions were long gone.
She told me all she'd need was a lock of my hair and a vial of blood. I let her do her thing and she walks me back to my room. I open the door and turn, "Nova" She turns around as well,
"I'm sorry you've had to go through all of this. You 100% have mine and the packs support, no matter what".
She leans in for a hug and whispers, "Thank you".

I don't really like the first half of the chapter but I absolutely love this new friendship between Faye and Nova.
