TODAY WAS THE LAST day of the Lupus trials. There were only 20 contestants left. In this group of wolves only two would be selected to be the Beta and Head Pack warrior and the remaining would have the opportunity to stay and become a part of the Castles Guard of pack warriors. I still had no idea what to do. I knew Alec being chosen to be beta would complicate so many things. It was the next day or should I say night as the final part of the trials was taking place. It would be the same as before but this time we'd be fighting in wolf form. We began at 6:00 as the sun was setting. I fought with multiple wolves and could see them as part of the pack warriors. Then came Arden's turn. She was one of the best female fighters I had seen. Her chocolate brown wolf was an average size but she moved swiftly. She was able to come in immediately unnoticed after we shifted. A perfect advantage in an attack. I instantly knew I'd want her on the guard. I fought with a few more wolves before Alec was the last one standing. He shifted behind the trees and emerged as a gigantic jet black wolf. We came face to face and bowed slightly before Xavier blew the whistle and we began. He instantly went for my ankles. He ran towards me and was able to throw me across the floor. Snarling and ready to attack, I ran away and into the woods. I could feel the confusion rolling off everyone in the clearing. Before they could notice my next move, I jumped off the nearby ruins of rocks and pebbles and lunged. I fell forward causing his wolf to be my cushion. He laid on his back and turned his head to the left. My right paw was standing on his chest and he had no way to move out. He had turned his head away meaning he was submitting. Taking the submission I remove my paw only to be pushed down by his weight. Now I was the one laying down with his paw on my chest. He did what no one else did; he played dirty and won with that technique. Xavier ordered everyone to their chambers and announced the final reviews would be given at the celebratory breakfast tomorrow morning.

I had spent hours in the council room that night and had finally come to a decision. The next morning was the celebratory breakfast and I could feel the anxiety in the air as I walked into the dining room. I grabbed my breakfast and sat with Dominic. My mind was swirling with emotions. It all stopped when Alec walked into the dining room. I instantly felt calmer and continued eating. Once everyone was done I walked towards the podium that had been set up the night before. I thanked everyone for their participation and their hard work. Being a part of the Lupus pack was a big responsibility, we held every pack in north america under our protection. I Started off with the most anticipated role, Beta. All the participants inched closer and paid close attention. I grabbed the knife and pointed it outwards. I sliced my palm until blood came out and let it sink into the gigantic bowl in front of me.
Looking for Dominic, I saw he was sitting next to Alec and my heart jumped a beat.
"Dominic Petrova, Please step up". There was a loud gasp from the crowd and the look on Dom's face was pure comedy. Finally registering what I said, He smooths his hair out and walks up to the podium. He whisper-yells, "Faye! What the hell are you doing?" I motion for him to grab the knife and continue the ritual. He takes it hesitantly and I answer back, "Dom, there's no one I trust more than you. I grew up with you, trained with you. I have even seen you at your worsts and it's still better than any of the people here. You deserve this''.
He smiled and I couldn't help but feel a weight off my chest lifted. After our blood collides, I feel a sudden warmness inside me and know our bond is secured. He is now the official Beta of the Lupus pack. He wipes his hand with the cloth and is already beginning to heal. He walked over to my left with his hands behind his back. I turn to face the crowd and face my soulmate. He is unaware of the position I am about to give him. Speaking loud and clearly, "I announce your new beta Dominic Petrova. Now I would like Alec Hale to please stand up". The tradition was to announce the beta, the new members of the guard warriors and then the official Pack Chief Warrior. He had know idea what was going to happen.
I smile at him as he approaches the podium. I repeat the same steps before and so does he. I step forward and state, "Lupus pack, meet your new Pack Chief warrior, Alec Hale".
As I finished my sentence, I could feel our bond complete.
