MY LIFE HAD CHANGED in only a couple of weeks. I found out the real story of how my parents died, my angelic mate, that I have the gift of elemental powers and that I was doomed to die because of who I was. It almost seemed like the script for a movie but it was the life I'd been given. On top of this, I was the official Head Pack w
arrior for the Lupine Pack.

"Alec? How many minutes left?" I was snapped out of my thoughts by one of the pack members asking for the time. I was having them run a few laps to warm up.

"Three".

I couldn't help but be distracted today. The plan to trick Lennox was bugging me in the back of my mind but I knew I couldn't dwell on it for long or else I'd spiral. I was still having a hard time controlling my emotions so I would have an outburst and hurt anyone around me. Luckily, it hasn't happened yet. The training sessions went by in a blur and I'd dismissed everyone for the day.

"Okay, you're starting to worry me. What's wrong?". I turn around and see Arden jugging down a bottle of water.

"Nothing". I didn't even want to explain the mess in my mind.

"I know when you're lying Alec, you're actually really bad at it". I wouldn't argue with her on that because she was right. She noticed that the people we'd been training with were slowly leaving and pulled me aside.

"Is it your powers? I grabbed some of the books the other day and I've been reading upon them."

I had learned the basics about my gifts but I was still pretty new and clueless about them. "Anything worth mentioning?"

She smirked, "Meet me by the lake in 20 minutes". I changed my clothes into something a bit more comfortable and stopped by Faye's room. I knocked on the door and waited until she said to come in. She was sitting on her bed with her Aunt Beatrice. So far everyone had been very welcoming with my gifts and me in general.

"What's up?"

I walk over and greet Beatrice with a cheek kiss and a side hug. I stick my hands in the pockets of my sweatpants

"I'm gonna go meet Arden by the lake, she says she's got an idea on how I can release some stress".

"Okay, that sounds fun," She turns to her aunt, "I'll be right back".

She gets up from her bed and grabs a jacket, I'll walk with you".

We walk down the corridors hand in hand and it feels amazing. She asks me about my day and I tell her every detail. She makes me feel like there's no one else in the world even if she's constantly approached by everyone in the castle. Once we arrive, she stops by the entrance of2 the forest, "I'll see you after?" I nod and lean closer. The sun was hitting her directly, her hazel eyes were swarming with different tones of golden brown and green. Nothing felt better than moments like these.

"Okay lovebirds". Arden popped quite literally out of nowhere and began teasing us. Something about the height difference being amusing. Faye excuses herself and Ardena and I walk over clearing near the lake. She takes her backpack off and takes out the book she mentioned earlier.

She begins laughing, "This is gonna be fun". I got a bit nervous when I saw the humorous and mischievous glint in her eyes.

"You want me to scream as hard as I can? What the hell is that gonna do?"

She sighs and facepalms. "The book says when you release pent up frustration, this big gust of air like energy comes out. From the drawing that's here, it looks pretty cool".

From the sounds of it does sound pretty cool so I listen to her instructions. I unconsciously hold my hands out and scream. Waves of entry come rolling off me and it ends up moving forward. Ardens hair flows back from the winds. She lets out a sequel, practically screaming at this point.

"Holy shit! Alec, this is insane! Oh, my moon goddess, I swear this looked like it was straight out of a movie."

I tell her I need to sit down, exhausted from the burst of energy I just released. She agrees and we settle down and sit in front of the lake.

"Ugh, I hate sand".

I find myself staring off, the water streaming is peaceful and calming my senses. I turn to Arden, "Can I ask you something?"

She nods signaling to go ahead. "What do you think of Dominic?"

She's surprisOkayed by my question, her eyes widening. "Um, well I guess he's cool. Kind of weird though. I'm not talking about his witchy side. I just mean like he's a bit standoffish but then when I walk to him he's a jumbling mess. I'm rambling aren't I ?"

I nod laughing at her obvious crush

I nod laughing at her obvious crush. She quiets down and hesitates to speak, "Are you worried about the witches?"

"Yeah. If it goes well, we can all move on from this. If it doesn't, it'll only get worse."

"Can I go with you guys? I don't have any powers but I can help fight".

I turn my head to her, "No way! Kira and Nova said this dude is no deal. He's like super crazy and plays mind games on you. I don't want you near any of that, I wouldn't handle you getting hurt because of me".

She argues but it's no use. She wouldn't be another fatality at the hands of that family. It was enough, whether good or bad, this fight was going to end. When we get back to the castle Nova notifies us she's got the linking spell down and that we'd begin the journey to the Covens Land in two days. She said she wanted me to practice with water and earth before we left.

"If things go bad, it'll be useful if you know how to control all four elements". I was getting more on edge with the idea that I'd be coming face to face with the man whose family killed mine.

It was time I got the answers I deserved.
