"Autumn Danzig! You're late for dinner!"
"Sorry Dad I was being a decent human being."
"What do you mean?" Sebastian said with a short temper.
"I couldn't just let Shadow walk home alone in the dark."
"So you chose to walk home alone in the dark yourself?" Forget short, his temper was barely anything at all.
"No, Remington drove me."
"Then where is he?" Sebastian's voice was low to keep from snapping in anger.
"In the car that just drove out of our driveway!"
"Watch your sass young lady!"
"Sorry Dad," It came out as a sarcastic mutter. This did nothing to improve Sebastian's mood, but he let her slide like his arms bent so his fists were on his hips that slid to hang loosely at his side.
"C'mon, let's eat before it gets cold,"
Neither father nor daughter pointed out that it was no where near warm. Or that Autumn usually walked her cousin home earlier in the day. Or that Sebastian probably should have thought to call Remington or Autumn. Or that Remington should have thought to walk her to the door, even if it meant having to talk to his brother. Or that Sebastian didn't notice the car in his driveway. Instead Sebastian pointed out their new neighbors. And how Autumn was going to have to go talk to the new kid.
