⚠️TW: Alcohol and mentions of underaged drinking⚠️
Brendon woke up at around noon the next day. He got up and changed into some sweat pants, not bothering to put a shirt on. After all who's going to see him? He made himself a bowl of cereal. Cheap, gross cereal with no milk was the best he could afford on his small allowance. He turned on Duck Tales and shoved the weird purple pellets in his mouth. He let the cartoon act as background noise and checked his dm's to see what random things his internet friends Viola and Nat sent. It was nice to have friends who thought about him enough to say 'wow Bren, you'd love this post I found.' It was nice to have background noise while he had breakfast, even if it's not people asking how each other slept and their plans for the day. Even just a bit of social interaction with someone who cared would be nice. He pushed the thoughts out of his mind as he finished his breakfast smelled under his armpit. Definitely need to take a shower he thought, washing out his bowl in the sink. He had learned to be self sufficient, living alone for over a year now. Not that Viola and Eva knew that of course.
⚠️He stepped out of the shower, and luckily for him actually put some clothes on after drying off. Luckily because he walked unsuspecting in to the living room to be met with a man in a fine suit sitting on the couch sipping from a glass of Brendon's red wine (yes he was 14 and drank wine, you try living though the things Brendon was without feeling a constant need to be a least a little intoxicated)⚠️
"Hello, Brendon."
"Hi, uh, who are you?"
"They call me the Doctor Man." He said, with the confidence of a man who knew just how powerful his title was.
"Mr. Doctor Man! Uh, what are you doing here?" Said Brendon awkwardly.
"Well looking for you of course!"
"Me?" His voice cracked.
"How would you like to get out of this boring old place and move somewhere more interesting, maybe our base in California?"
Brendon gasped "Sir, nothing would mean more to me!" Then he remembered "But what about this House?"
"Oh, I'm sure your most recent recruit will do wonderfully here."
"Nicole?"
"Yes, in fact your Mother told me you did so amazing with 'refreshing' her mind, we thought we'd give you a challenge."
"A challenge?"
"How would you like to work with Patient X himself?"
Brendon grinned at the honor. "More than anything in the world."
