That night, when I slept with Daryl, it was the first time I fell asleep to him holding me. And the first time waking up to him kissing me.
"Gmrnng." I mumble against his lips. He smiles and lays back down. "Mornin' sunshine. How'd you sleep?" He stares down at me, tracing his finger over my collar bones.
I placed my head on his naked chest, and looked up at him. "Better than I have in awhile." I tell him. He smiles again. I had slept only in my underwear and tank top since it was still hot out, but Daryl wasn't the kind of guy to do anything I didn't want him to.
Plus, I liked feeling his skin on my own. "We should probably get up." I say and he groans. I shift off of him and kneel in front of my bag, grabbing clothes for the day.
I feel Daryl's hands sneak around my waist, pulling me on top of him. "What the hell happened to you? You used to be all 'grrrr' and now your all 'love me'." I tell him, smiling.
He shrugs. "Y'er cute. I like to hold you." I roll my eyes. "Fine a little bit longer." I mumble, nuzzling into his side. I fell asleep, as did he, and when I woke up for the second time, I actually got up.
I wore my tank top and cargo pants, letting my bandaged arms be free. "Wake up." I grumble, hitting him on the head with a pillow. He groans and rolls over so I smack his ass once to get him up.
Daryl follows me out of the tent after getting dressed and I walk over to Sam and James tent, Butter trailing behind me, to wake them up for the day.
"Guys." I say as I enter the tent. "Time to get up and do some chores." They both groan and turn on their sides. I roll my eyes and grab the corners of their blankets.
"Get up you lazy pieces of shit." I grumble, yanking the blankets off of them. I hear Daryl laughing outside the tent. "You better be awake and out here when I come back." I tell them as I leave the tent. "I'm helping Carol with laundry today." I tell him, grabbing him by the collar of his shirt and pulling him close to me. "Please don't mention anything to my brothers." I whisper. He tilts my chin up to look at him and he pecks my lips before smiling softly. "If you leave, come tell me first." I add. "Yes ma'am." He murmurs, kissing me again.
I start to walk over to Carol when Daryl grabs my waist turning me around. He quickly pecks me on the lips and turns me back around, nudging me towards Carol again.
I walk forward in a daze before turning around to look at Daryl. He just smirks at me and continues on his way. "Morning." I tell her yawning, once I reach her and the laundry baskets. Butter jumps into one of the dirty baskets and lays down. Carol laughs. "Morning Chloe. How'd you sleep."
I shrug. "Pretty good. I always get scared late at night. Plus it's only a matter of time before Daryl wants to move his tent away from the rest of the group." I tell her.
"That's probably true." I pick up the basket Butter is in and follow Carol with her own basket. She leads me to two buckets used for washing.
I set the bucket down and pick Butter out of it, setting him down beside me.
"If you're afraid, will you go with him? When he eventually moves?" She asks me, beginning to clean. I follow her lead. "I will. He'll protect me and he'd never put me in danger." I tell her.
We talk about random things as we clean, mostly the good things about our lives before this or things that are happening now.
When I finish my basket of laundry I pick Butter up and set him in the tub. "Time for your bath mister."
The water gets darker and darker as I scrub him and I scrunch my nose. "What's it like, having a dog?" She asks me. I use some of the soap and use my fingers to scratch and scrub his fur.
