Miya
5 days later

"Congratulations you two, you guys are having two boys and one girl!" Her doctor exclaimed with excitement.

Miya stared at the sonogram screen with no type of excitement. Seeing her babies didn't excite her and she didn't know why. Miya slowly looked over at Mason to see him staring at her.

"I guess we have to come up with another boy name huh?" Miya chuckled as she tried to sound enthusiastic, but all that came out was a dull tone.

Miya looked over at the screen and stared at it again. Feeling a kick, Miya looked down at her belly and poked the side it came from.

"Cheer up mommy, that's what that one told you." Doctor Angie laughed as she wiped the jelly off of Miyas stomach.

"I am happy." Miya forced a smile as she slowly sat up and pulled her shirt down. "I'm happy that my babies are healthy and growing. I'm happy that we officially signed off on our new home this morning, got the keys, and all we have to do is look for the furniture today." Miya tried to say anything to come to mind to make her happy, but it just didn't.

"You two are taking big steps I see," Doctor Angie continued to smile as she took off her gloves. "I'm so happy to finally see you happy Miya."

"Thank you." Miya weakly smiled. "That means a lot."

"No problem Mi. Now, I'm going to go get your paper work and get those pictures printed out for the both of you. I'll be right back."

Miya watched as she grabbed her things and walked out of the room, leaving Miya and Mason alone. Miya looked down at her fingers and rubbed them together.

"What's wrong with you?"

Miya looked up from her fingers and looked at him. His face was unreadable as he stared at her.

"There's nothing wrong with me." Miya shrugged. She slowly slid off the bed and stood to her feet. Miya placed a hand on her back and exhaled sharply.

The added weight, weighed heavily on her lower spine.

"You've been oddly quiet since that night Miya. Something is wrong." Mason stood to his feet as well and closed the gap between them. "We've just found out the genders of our kids and you're not the least bit excited?"

"You weren't that excited your damn self Mason. I looked over at you and all you did was blankly stare, and that was not a blank stare of excitement. Cut me some slack." Miya ran her hands through her hair and pulled on it lightly. Feeling some strands in between her fingers, Miya shook her hand to get the hair off.

"Are you thinking about that night?" Mason asked her.

"No, what's done is done. I don't know what even happened." Miya licked on her lips as she rubbed on her stomach.

"You don't remember anything from that night?" Mason raised his brow.

"Nope, but," Miya raised her finger at him. "I woke up with two things on my mind the next morning." She kept one finger up. "One, why do I have a hand print around my neck when I'm in fact, carrying not one, but three of your babies. Two," Miya held up two fingers. "Why was I hearing this little voice in my head saying that you were the one to kill Del'Quan and with an actual story behind it? I'm not going to discuss this in the hospital because they are too many ears around, but when we get in that car I want you to please put my mind at ease because it's messing with me and I want my fiancé to tell me that I'm tripping and that it was all a dream." Miya looked up at him as she tried to read his facial expression, but nothing.
