The concert is full rage right now. Hype has caused the moronic people of the pit to start their chaotic rumble. Max has been doing a great job in shielding me from the occasional body being shoved out way. He remains attached to my body and I can hardly say I dislike it. I think I have focused more on him holding me so close than the actual concert itself. Instead of being deafened by good music, I'm deafened by Max's occasional press to my arse when someone shoved into him from behind. It's all so much and so overwhelming enjoyed.
"You doing okay?" He asks in my ear. I turn my head to look up at him and the lights from the stage just shimmer across his face. I smile. He's so handsome and strong and God I'm infatuated. Why? Because he has his cobra pressed into me or because he holds me even when he doesn't need too?
He bends his ear down to my lips.
"I'm perfect. You?" I ask and he simply smiles.
"Wouldn't want to be anywhere else right now." I turn back towards the stage and they have started King of Kings. I bounce just a bit with him excitement and he holds me tighter and I feel him smile against my cheek. "Best song ever."
I close my eyes as his lips brush against my jaw just below my ear. It sends a shiver through my body and I feel that fire in my belly ignite and burn hotter than it ever has. We listen to the song and sway slightly from side to side. The guy singing in place of Lemmy does a great impression of his vocals. So crisp and raspy. I would pay to listen to him again. The lights swirl and smoke rolls out across the stage as pyrotechnics blaze. The theatrics are amazing. We are so close, I can feel the burning flames breech my personal space. This whole show is probably one of the best I've seen. Even the band that opened for them was very good.
I feel Max's phone vibrate in his front pocket of his jeans. His girlfriend no doubt. I actually forgot about her existence for a moment. He pulls one arm away from me and turns slightly away from me so he can text her back. It must be quite a message because he removes his second hand briefly to finish it. No big deal. I'm not even supposed to know about her. Let alone be here with Max. What did he tell her exactly?
Did he say he was going to a concert or did he make up an excuse?
Did he say he was going with a friend? Or did he say he was going alone?
More importantly if he said it was a friend- did he tell her I am a woman?
I have so many questions, but they will never be answered. They don't have to be. Because whatever Max is with me right now- seems to be enjoying my close proximity. Whatever Max goes back to her and the Dam- will be different. At the Dam, we can't be like this. Close. Intimate...wanting. No. At the Dam, we are partners and coworkers. He's my boss. I'm merely his deputy and department head. There I am nothing more than a friend...but here. At this concert. 90 some miles away from our friends and colleagues and partners- he and I are transformed and enlightened by each other's presence. We don't care who sees. We have no eyes on us. No expectations.
Yet, we're not fully unbound from home. His phone is the first reminder that we won't be anything more than just friends.
As the show slowly wraps up, that same bulldozer of a man shoved into me- knocking me on my arse. Max quickly shoved his phone in his pocket helps me up. Before I can even say anything, he tugs in the big guys shoulder to get his attention.
"Hey! Watch where the fuck you are going!" He yells and I see the veins in his neck bulge slightly.
"Fuck off! Take your nigger girlfriend and stay out of the pits pussy." The big guy turns back around and Max did not like that. Granted, it's not the first time someone called me a nigger- but apparently to Max- it's worth picking an argument with a dude the size of the Mountain on Game of Thrones. Grabbing his shoulder again, Max gets his attention and now this guy is pissed. "What part of fuck off- don't you understand dickhead?"
