Chapter 2: The Sorting Hat

When the night falls, we arrived at Hogsmeade Village. Outside the train, I saw this giant guy shouting "Right then, First years, this way please! Come on first years, don't be shy. Come on now, hurry up". So we all went out and we all looked around. Harry, Ron and I went to this big man and he said "Hello Harry" Then Harry answered "Hello Hagrid". Then Ron and I looked at the same time towards Hagrid. Ron exclaimed "Woah!". Then Hagrid shouted "Right then, this way to the boats. Come on now, follow me". So we all followed Hagrid and got into the Durmstrang Ship. Every boat was filled with students. As we got closer, we can finally see Hogwarts. We were all amazed by its beauty. Ron muttered "Wicked". So we all went inside and went up the stairs and saw this old woman at the center.

I think she was a Professor. We all stopped on the staircase and she welcomed all of us "Welcome to Hogwarts. Now in a few moments, you'll pass through these doors and join your classmates. Before you can take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. While you're here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you points any rule-breaking and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points wins the house cup".

Then the boy shouted "Trevor!" I guess that's Neville, the one that Hermione talked about. He then proceeds to run through at the very front of the crowd and got his toad. When he got it, he looked up and Neville and the professor was staring with each other. Harry, Ron and I smirked while looking at Neville and then he apologized "Sorry". So the professor continued "The Sorting Ceremony will begin momentarily." She then walked away. Then this blonde boy talked out of nowhere "So it's true then, what they're saying on the train. Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts". Everyone murmered 'Harry Potter?' and some just looked at each other. He then introduced his friends "This is Crabbe and Goyle" Then himself, then walked towards Harry and continued"and I'm Malfoy, Draco Malfoy". Ron then laughed then this Malfoy boy looked at him angrily. "Think my name's funny, do you? I've no need to ask yours. Red hair and a hand-me-down robe? You must be a Weasley". He then looked back at Harry and said "You'll find out some wizarding families are better than others Potter. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there". Then he put out his hand for a handshake and Harry just looked at it and looked back at Malfoy and said "I think I can tell the wrong sort for myself, thanks"

Then the professor came back with a paper and she patted with it on Malfoy's shoulder. He looked back and saw the professor and looked back at Harry. He went back to his friends. She said "We're ready for you now. Follow me". We formed two lines then Harry and Ron got paired up while Hermionie and I paired up too but we were at the back of them. We entered at the Great Hall the there were lots of students sitting down at the tables, looking at us. Us, first years looked at the floating candles and the beautiful night 'sky' then Hermionie talked about the ceiling, "The ceiling isn't real. It's bewitched to look like the night sky. I read about it in Hogwarts, A History". I really want to say 'Sheesh Hermione, I already know quite a bit about Hogwarts'. Anyways, we arrived at the very front of the Great Hall. Then the professor went up and said "Will you wait along here please?" Others were still looking above and some are looking around. Then she continued

"Now before we begin, Professor Dumbledore would like to say a few words." Then this old man stood up, "I have a few start of term notices that I wish to announce.The first years, please note that the Dark Forest is strictly forbidden to all students. Also our caretaker, Mr. Filch, asked me to remind you that the third floor corridor is out of bounds to everyone who does not wish to die a most painful death. Thank you". I kept on laughing in my head because Dumbledore frightened the first years in the first day of school! XD. Then the professor said "When I call your name, you will come forth. I shall place the Sorting Hat on your head and you will be sorted into your houses."

She then proceeds to unroll the scroll and held the hat, then she called "Hermione Granger". She sighed and muttered to herself "Oh no, okay, relax" then I heard Ron saying something to Harry "Mental that one, I'm telling you". Harry nodded while I laughed at what Ron was telling and it seems true. I think she's mental but in a good way. Hermione then went up and sat down at this little brown chair and the woman proceeds to put the Sorting Hat onto her head. Then the hat said "Right then, right. Okay...." Then he shouted "Gryffindor!". Then the Gryffindor table cheered then the woman proceeds to get the hat off and Hermione went to thhe table and sat down. Then the professor called another student "Draco Malfoy".

Then he proceeds to sit down. Just before the professor put the hat on his head, he shouted "Slytherin!" right away, then the Slytherin table cheered and Ron whispered to Harry and me "Every wizard who went bad was in Slytherin" Then I got called "y/n l/n". Harry and Ron looked at me then I proceed to sit on the chair. Then the hat said "I know... Slytherin!". Then the Slytherins cheered for me and I looked at Harry and Ron. Ron cheered for me while Harry looked at someone at the teachers table. I looked back and I saw this man wearing a black cloak and a black top, pants and shoes. He was really staring at Harry for sometime. I shrugged it off then went towards the table. Everyone was cheering for me and I sat beside Malfoy then he introduced himself.

"Hi, I'm Malfoy, Dra-". I cut him off and said "Draco, pleasure to meet you. My name's y/n". Draco smirked at me but I didn't mind. I heard Ron's name when the professor said "Ronald Weasley". He walked up slowly and sat down slowly. Then the hat said "Ha! Another Weasley! I know just what to do with you". Ron kept on shaking and moving a bit then the Sorting Hat shouted "Gryffindor!". Then Ron sighed and went towards the Gryffindor table. I clapped for him but not too loud. Then Draco said "So y/n, you like Weasley, don't you?". I stopeed clapping then I turned to him and glared, I told him "Ron. Is. My. Friend." Draco looked frightened and then I looked away. Then the professor called another student "Harry Potter". Students were murmuring and some were quiet, even Dumbledore leaned forward and looked nervous and excited at the same time, even Hagrid looked excited. As he was walking up, he looked at Ron and Hermionie then he proceeds to sit down on the chair.

The Sorting Hat said "Difficult, very difficult. Plenty of courage I see, not a bad mind either. There's talent, oh yes and a thirst to prove yourself. But where to put you?" Then the hat said "Not Slytherin eh? Are you sure?". Maybe he whispered on not being in Slytherin. Then the hat continued "You could be great you know, It's all here, in your head and Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness, no doubt about that. No? Well, if you're sure. Better be.... Gryffindor!". Everyone in the Gryffindor table clapped, even me and the teachers well except for that professor that wears black. Well at least the three of them are together. "Awe... y/n do you want to be with them? Pity. You're with us now". I glared at him and looked away. The the professor grabbed a spoon, rang with the glass then she said something "Your attention please".

Then Dumbledore stood up and shouted "Let the feast begin!". Then out of nowhere, food was on the table. There was a whole chicken, drumsticks, corn, mashed potatoes, sliced vegetables, bread, and fruits. Everyone digged in and I was starving. I ate some chicken, mashed potatoes and some bread. Then out of nowhere there were ghosts flying. In our table, someone shouted "It's the Bloody Baron!". Then we just continued eating.
