Chapter 7: Double Potions

Y/n POV

I woke up not as early as before. The girl's dormitory was really noisy and full of giggles. I didn't mind them and did my own thing, did my morning routine, grabbed my Potions and reading book and headed out. When I walked in the classroom, it was packed. The only empty seat was a the very back portion of the classroom. Having no friends in Slytherin (except for Draco), I sat there, being silent and just reading my book. Hufflepuffs, Slytherins and some Ravenclaws were here but no Gryffindors.

After a minute or two, Prof. Snape entered the classroom. He banged the door as usual and the door was still wide open. I closed my reading book and placed it on the table.

"Today class is Double Potions. We will be making Fire Protection Potion. Now.... does anybody wanna tell me what does Fire Protection Potion do?". said Prof. Snape in a low voice. I just covered my face with my Potions Book because I didn't feel like answering today.

"Yes.... Ms. l/n? Could you.... explain to us... what does Fire Protection do?" said Prof. Snape. I lowered my book and he was near me. I slowly stood up and answered instead of just standing there.

"The Fire Protection Potion, also known as the Ice Potion.... is a potion used to move through flames unscathed. When drunk, it induces a sensation of ice and frigidity in the drinker, and provides protection from most magical fires". Oh Merlin, I sound like Hermione and I don't like it very much!.

"Excellent.... 10 points for Slytherin" said Prof. Snape while walking back towards the front. I sat back down, being relieved from what just happened.

"When making the Fire Protection Potion, you'll be doing it with a partner. Unfortunately, there will be one person who will be working alone.... Anyone who wants to work alone, raise your hand".

I immediately raised my hand and made a bit of noise. Everyone was staring at me, chattering. "Silence! Now everyone, sit with your partner". Everyone started to move around the classroom fastly.

"You Ms. l/n.... will be sitting..... here at the front......... where my desk is......." said Prof. Snape darkly.

I grabbed my two books and started to get up and went towards his desk. When I sat down, everyone was still staring at me. I felt embarrassed.

"All the ingredients for the Potion is already on your table. Since all of you are with your partners.... start... now...."

Everyone was grabbing their book and scanned throughout the pages. Some were panicking, some were just sitting there doing nothing. I saw some Ravenclaws also started making the potion very slowly. I thought they were the brainy ones, how can they do it slower than me? Well... not all Ravenclaws are wise...

When I was looking throughout the classroom, I saw Prof. Snape walking towards me. He got closer and said "Having a break are we Ms. l/n?.... You better start now..." So I placed two of my books far away from the cauldron and started.

What do I remember about the Fire Protection Potion? I was thinking a lot and found the ingredients on how to make them. I started to recite them on my mind.

1.) Slice bursting mushrooms with knife, add to cauldron and stir clockwise until potion turns blue.

2.) Add salamander blood to cauldron, stir anti-clockwise until potion turns green.

3.) Crush Wartcap powder in pestle, add to cauldron and stir clockwise until potion turns red.

After that, I finished my potion in three minutes. I saw Prof. Snape walking around, so I raised my hand. I saw almost everyone staring at me, then Prof. Snape noticed me too. "Yes Ms l/n?... Do you need some... help?".
