Tonight was the night Sirius was supposed to come over and properly meet her parents, and Evelyn was freaking out. She always feared this kind of interaction, even when it came to her parents meeting her friends or just anyone in general. Her own personal fear of rejection was pushed onto others, unbeknownst to them. She rather be the on being rejected then witness it happen to someone else.
This was the main reason she didn't want Sirius to come, the other reason was that she knew her parents would pull some dumb shenanigan to scare him, it was all too serious for her liking.
Evelyn glanced down at her dress and ran her hand over the invisible wrinkles. The dress was a light blue with a floral print and was off-shoulder. She had told Sirius to dress nice too and prayed to whatever was out there he wouldn't show up in ripped jeans and a worn-out Sex Pistols shirt.
Evelyn quit her pacing when she heard a knock at the door. She grabbed the golden knob and opened the door to reveal Sirius. The eldest Black wore a white button-down, black slacks, and dress shoes. His usual messy hair was combed back with only a few strands hanging loose, framing his handsome face.
His silver eyes were cool and his face was stolid, he looked absolutely gorgeous.
" Oh thank God it's just you!" he gasped," I was worried it would be someone important."
Now we're back to Sirius," Gee thanks," she grumbled opening the door slightly," Do come in." she drawled.
Sirius frowned," That came out wrong," he muttered. Evelyn rolled her eyes but couldn't help the smile that began to stretch across her face.
" You look beautiful kitten," he said lowly before kissing the top of her head. Evelyn felt her smile grow and a blush adorn her tan cheeks," You don't look half bad yourself." she whispered shyly.
Sirius wiggled his eyebrows," I know right."
Evelyn snorted and looked up where he busted his eyebrow and frowned at the bandage, she took his face in her small hands and pulled him closer. She placed a light kiss on the bandage," You really are an idiot, you and James both."
Sirius put his hand on top of hers and grinned," Yeah, just promise me- When James and I get old, put us in the same old persons home so we can play sports and race our wheelchairs,"
Evelyn started to snort lightly," Oh my God." she giggled into her hand.
Sirius snickered," I can see it now- Remus will be tripping James and Lily's annoying grandkids with his cane 'cause from the amount those two talk their offspring won't be able to shut up. Peter will be cheering me and James on. Marlene and Nicole will be those old people with the dirty jokes, and you'll....." he trailed off the words dying before they even left his mouth.
Evelyn tilted her head," How 'bout I be the ref ?" she asked quietly.
Sirius smiled his eyes looking into hers, his hand closing around her own" Sounds good Truelove,"
" Hello, Sirius! Come, dinner's on the table." she chirped.
The couple jumped apart and a light blush sprinkled their cheeks," Okay- Come on Sirius." Evelyn said, leading him to the dining room.
Lindsey smiled, she had been watching for a while.
Evelyn sat down beside Sirius while he was looking around the room, it seemed more stuffy than it did the last time he had been in her house, probably due to the fact his fight or flight instincts were going into overdrive.
Lindsey came in, " I'll get Samson," she cleared her throat," SAM HURRY UP, I'M NOT WALKIN' UP THERE!" she hollered.
Sirius grinned while Evelyn buried her face in her hands. They heard heavy footsteps come down the stairs, and Sirius gulped. Samson walked in, in his usual get-up, a black and white suit.
