Things began to turn around for the better, but Evelyn had become paranoid. Always looking behind her, closing the blinds, checking behind doors, glancing around, jumpy, and the worst part she didn't even notice.' Constant vigilance!' Moody had said, and Evelyn seemed to be living by it. It made Sirius worried. Did he blame her? No. He couldn't, he had found himself being more observant.
It seemed that everyone had become more aware of their surroundings. James had warded his and Lily's home, Marlene and Nicole did the same, and Sirius needed to. He just had to get a permit because he and Evelyn were living in a muggle building.
!
It was early August and Evelyn was home alone. She was sitting on the couch, reading the book Nicole had lent her. It was pretty good, but this character's ego was getting on her nerves.
Just as she was about to turn the page someone knocked on the door. ' Sirius must have locked himself out again.' she thought. She got up and opened the door slightly. She saw Black hair and the same pale skin, she smiled," Well you're back earl- Regulus!"
Regulus entered, looked behind him and shut the door quickly, locking it with a spell. Evelyn was flabbergasted," Wha- What are you doing here?!" she whispered. He ran a hand through his messy hair, that was in need of a trim. He looked terrible, his eyes were red and had dark circles under them, he had stubble on his chin, and he had beads of sweat running down his forehead.
" Regulus....what happened to you?" she asked. Regulus opened his mouth," I...I didn't know...I..... I'm so sorry." he choked. Tears began to fill his eyes and he collapsed onto the floor. This scene was all too familiar.
Evelyn got down and made him look into her eyes," What is it Reggie?" she asked softly. He wiped his eyes frantically," I'm so sorry." he whispered.
Evelyn hugged him tightly then pulled back," Tell me what happened."
Regulus shook his head and stood up," I always knew you were different... since the day I met you I knew there was something off...I knew you were special."
Evelyn stood up and took a step back," What do you mean?" she asked, eyeing him warily.
Regulus ignored her again, " But to think it was something so extraordinary as that...how the hell could I have ever thought that," he said more to himself than to her.
Evelyn frowned," You're scaring me Regulus." she whispered taking another step back. He didn't move," So there is something after this... after death.......reincarnation- I never thought it possible." he said, finally looking at her.
Evelyn felt her blood run cold, and her heart skip a beat," Wha-what?" she choked. Regulus gave her a sad smile," Don't play dumb Evelyn, it doesn't suit you." Evelyn felt her heart speed up.
" In sixth year you were helping me with legilimens- I am now a master at it by the way- and I caught you off guard. What seemed like a few seconds to you, was like minutes to me. I know about your secret Evelyn, and I know about Potter and his wife, and I now know about the locket." a single tear slid down his cheek," Why didn't you tell me?"
Evelyn was dumbstruck, " So it's all true then? It's all real?"
The ebony-haired man furrowed his brows, " You didn't know?"
She shook her head, " I-I mean I... wait that dream in fourth year, oh my god that was-"
Realization hit her as if she were struck by lightning, " October 31st, 1981... Lily and James they're going to-"
