-Percy-

*Knock Knock*

"Percy shut up and get in." Annabeth yelled from her room.

"Manners Annabeth!" I hollered back.

She came out smiling in her fluffy blue bathrobe with her hair wrapped up in a towel. She

smirked. I sighed. "You aren't ready then?"

She stuck her tongue out before looking slightly wistful. "Well, my dad doesn't particularly care what I'm doing in his apartment. He's stuck with Helen isn't he?" Even at ten years old, she seemed awfully mature and much taller, which greatly disturbed me.

I cast her a sympathetic glance before I heard her slam the door to change. The next ten minutes, I spent searching the entire kitchen for the blue cookies my mum had sent Annabeth that night.

"Looking for these?" said Annabeth, all dressed, holding a box of blue cookies and grinning. I eyed the cookies devilishly. "Share Annabeth, share!" I whined.

She stuck her tongue out at me . "You're gonna have to catch me first." She said laughing as she grabbed her backpack, swung it round her shoulder, and bolted down the stairs.

"Annabeth! Please! Get back here!" I yelled while shutting the door.

I met her waiting downstairs for me. She had one cookie in her hand.

I looked hopefully at it. She smiled and broke it in half, giving me the bigger half.

"Aww thanks." I said gratefully.

"Anytime Seaweed Brain." she said, smirking a bit.

"Wait... you already ate some, didn't you?" I said while frowning, confused.

"Uh duh." She said. Even then, she sounded really cute saying it. "Why else would you be a Seaweed Brain?" she put simply.

I raised my hands in surrender. "Wise Girl." I muttered. We walked to the bus stop and headed to school.

That day, Annabeth got picked on for being a nerd when I was around. Apparently, it used to happen pretty often.

They were throwing her books around (we were just 10, thank gods for that) and I told them to go to hell. Of course, I ended up with a bleeding knee, but Annabeth hadn't gotten hurt.

Later on, she was helping me get to the nurse's office.

"Percy, why did you stop them?" she said. "They weren't going to do anything horrible."

I replied, "You're my best friend."

She frowned a bit, which I understood because I was probably the only thing permanent in her life and she said, "Always, right Seaweed Brain?"

"Forever and Always."

I always smiled at the memory. That was seven years ago. In fact, it was one of the last memories I had of Annabeth Chase. Apparently, in the dead of the night, her father had whisked her off to another city. She had left. And I didn't even get to say goodbye to my best friend.

I also broke my promise.

I said forever and always.

And I never saw her again.

Well no one knew she used to be my friend. Everyone forgot about Annabeth Chase, schools changed, life went on and even she became a distant memory.

I grabbed my bag, muttered goodbye to my mum and baby sister before walking out for another

day of school, secretly hoping to go unnoticed by Luke and his gang.

I waited for the minivan to come. "Ah, late as usual," I thought to myself as I got in. "Hey guys."

I said.

"Hey Percy." said Frank and Hazel together, which made them both blush.

I grinned, giving knowing looks to Jason and Leo, while Thalia, at the wheel, snorted loudly.

We spent most of our time bugging Hazel and Frank, who clearly liked each other but just didn't admit it.

Hazel, the clever girl that she is, drew everyone's attention to Thalia. "Hey Thalia, any progress with Reyna?"

Thalia blushed a deep red. "Gods guys. Shut up. I do not like her."

"Sureeee." Leo drawled.

Then Jason added, "Yeah it's like saying that Nico isn't gay."

"Where is Nico anyways?" I asked suddenly, realising that a certain friend was missing. "He said he's sick." Hazel supplied. "I just think he hates Mondays."

"Who doesn't?" Thalia commented.

And just like that, the week crawled on, with the occasional remarks from Luke, no progress of 'Theyna' right until Friday. That's when we had our after school meet. Basically we just chilled at Frank's house.

Of course, I got stuck in detention. If you are wondering how I did that, I'll tell you. I called my math teacher Mrs Dodds a 'treli kiria'. I google translated it. Apparently, she knew greek. Which meant she knew that I had called her a crazy lady. So, of course I had Nico. He was stuck at detention too, for continuing my act by yelling curses in Italian. Wow, we both must really hate math.

I got a ride to Frank's house with Nico. On the way, he asked me to put on Theana's latest album. Everyone loved her. She looked pretty young, but you couldn't really make out because her signature style was a blue wig with huge sunglasses.

"And I'll be free again

And you won't stop me

No-o-o-o-o you won't you won't stop me

You won't stop me anymore..."

Nico was grinning. It was hard not to like her songs. They were real and fun, yet honest.

I decided to push my luck. "So..."

Nico raised his eyebrow. "Yeah?"

"How's it going with the guy who interns at the doctors office?" I asked.

Nico blushed. "I don't like him."

"You want us to believe that you missed most of the first week of school because you were sick?" I asked grinning.

"Fine. He's cute, okay?" Nico said, annoyed.

I forced a smile as we got out of the car.

I had a great weekend. A few comments about my messy hair from Fai's grandmother, but otherwise fun.

But little did I know, that in two days, I would be reunited with a certain blonde haired, grey eyed person.
