TW'S: Military, Soldier, Crying, Missing a loved one
No song this time sorry, I'm in a rush :)

Very mild hurt/comfort (It doesn't exactly fall into a category)

Patton smiled at his son as best he could as they opened their Christmas presents. Logan and Virgil were in the room too, in similar states. The only thing any of them could see was Thomas happily opening presents, unaware of the circumstances of the day.

Roman had been stationed in Iraq for the past six months as an air force bomb loader. While all of them knew it wasn't that long and that the job wasn't all that dangerous as long as he was smart about it- which none of them dared to doubt; at least not in front of Thomas.

That all missed him. And the added fact that he was missing Thomas' Christmas was devastating. Thomas could tell the energy of the room was off, even at the young age of six. Roman would joke that he got it from Patton. Patton wiped away a small tear and smiled at his son, taking a picture as he held up a new coloring book.

Virgil stood up for a moment and walked next to the tree, pulling a small square wrapped from within the artificial fir. Logan broke out of his trance and stared at him quizzically before shifting his gaze back to Thomas who looked at Virgil with doe eyes. Virgil smiled and kneeled down, handing Thomas the present and kissing his head. Not a word was exchanged besides Thomas' baby babble of words he had learned from his fathers.

Patton snapped another picture of Virgil and Thomas and looked up from the camera, saying the first words during the nearly silent occasion.

"What's that V?" Virgil looked up with a weak smile. "Just a little decor for Thomas' room." Thomas ripped through the wrapping excited before 'oo'ing at the new soft material in his hand. It was a blanket. Just a nice, soft blanket. Virgil looked as confused as his other husbands.

"You got him a blanket and wrapped it? Not that I'm complaining, it looks like a very nice material," Logan remarked, wiping his glasses. Virgil shook his head.

"No, it was a present from Roman, hold on." Virgil carefully took the blanket out of Thomas' hands and gave him something else quickly as to not cause him to throw a tantrum.

He unfolded the material and noticed a note in the cloth. Taking a moment to read the words he started crying a bit and laughing. Patton and Logan looked at him with worry as Virgil looked up, handing the blanket to Logan with a smile.

Logan read through the words quickly and smiled as small tears formed in his eyes, passing it to Patton who imminently started reading, only to have a similar reaction as Virgil.

Hey there! I just wanted to tell you I'm sorry that I couldn't get time off, but I also want you to know I tried. I promise when I get back I'll give you all a big present, for now we're gonna have to stick with cloth because the DS says I can't send anything above 7 pounds and that it'll be checked so uh, also hi to the Sargent I guess?

I promise I'll be back as soon as I can, I swear. Anyway this letter's getting really long and curfew is in a bit. Goodbye my loves! Tell Thomas I said Merry Christmas and that I love him!

Patton laughed at the little doodles of hearts, ties, clouds, and crowns. Thomas babbled and laughed, gaining the attention of his dads.

"Let-ter?" Logan smiled at Thomas and nodded, Patton and Virgil laughing slightly and wiping their eyes.

"Yes, a letter. From Papá," Logan confirmed. Thomas smiled even brighter and smacked his hands on his play mat.

"Papá?"

"Yes, Papá. He says Merry Christmas and that he loves you." Patton filled in.

"Merry Christmas!" Thomas cheered, toppling backwards with a loud spurt of giggles. Patton ran his hands against the fabric of the blanket and looked at his son with adoration mimicking his husbands'.

"Merry Christmas Thomas," Virgil bent down and picked Thomas up with a smile, small tears falling from his eyes, hugging Thomas close.
