Patton tapped his foot against the floor impatiently and waited for the curtain to rise. Patton was at the local circus show for the fifth time that week. Not because he loved the show- well of course he did love the show but that wasn't the point- it was because his brother Janus owned the company.

As annoyed as he was with the repeat acts, the news of a new act added to the show had reached him some time after a particularly boring night. A boy- a reportedly very cute boy- would be performing on the aerial silks. He had heard from Roman about the newest act on accident when he was helping clean up after a show.

Logan rolled his eyes at Patton and kicked his foot lightly, snapping Patton out of his small trance, helping him notice that the show had actually started. Remus and Roman's act was up first, earning several cheers from the crowd as they helped each other do cart-wheels, flips, and other tricks that Patton had seen a million times before.

Janus took the stage next, wowing the crowd as he took a long- seemingly golden- two-headed snake out of his coat pocket and let it wrap around his neck before passing it over to Roman; he let it slide around his wrist and up his arm before it moved to Remus while they tumbled. As they passed by Janus, he stuck out his hand and as the snake stuck to his glove, he lightly pulled it away from the brothers, holding it up while Roman and Remus rolled backstage.

Acts moved quickly by, from sword swallowing, fire breathing, and surprisingly simple snake charming. Patton wasn't paying as close attention as Logan was. Roman and Janus came on stage a second time, Roman happily holding Janus' snake as he made an announcement.

"Hello again show members! To close out our show, we would like to introduce our newest act!" Roman opened, gesturing to Janus for him to continue.

"Introducing our silk acrobat, Virgil!" The lights on the main stage shut off at the name, Patton's heart beating faster as a smaller light slowly traveled up a light purple silk on the stage. It eventually stopped at a boy in a beautiful purple leotard with a sparkly black trim. The boy's skin was a pale shade of peach and his hair almost matched the black on his outfit.

Slowly, Virgil spun his leg around the silk by his foot and held onto the upper silk with one hand. Patton's heart fluttered as quiet music started playing in the back.

Virgil let go and let his body fall, the crowd gasped as his leg stayed in place and Virgil caught the fabric before his leg slipped and reached for the anther silk while still upside down, catching it and throwing himself over to the other. He spun the silk around his middle and stayed suspended for just a moment.

Slowly Patton noticed Virgil start to swing back and forth, the light moving with him until suddenly Virgil let go of the silk and spun down rapidly, The light on Virgil shutting off and a new light shone into the crowd, getting into Patton's eyes. Before he knew it, through the darkness Virgil broke into the light and made eye contact with Patton. He swung close to him.
