I walked hand in hand with Lucas to my bedroom once we climbed the staircase. I can still hear the sound of people talking downstairs. Brock told me I have permission to speak with Lucas alone and not be interrupted because of my birthday. He also said that I don't have to worry about cleaning up the mess that Blake and Jade's pack made downstairs during the big fiasco. So, I took the opportunity and didn't argue with him. Lucas led me up the stairs and to my bedroom, which is what we are doing as we speak.
Walking through the door frame that connected my bedroom to the hallway, Lucas releases my hand as I continue then stop and turn to face him. He sends me a quick little half smile then says,"Go ahead and take a seat. We're gonna be up here awhile and I don't want anyone interrupting us.".
I nodded and took a seat on my bed as he proceeded to shut my bedroom door and locked it. "Lucas, that isn't going to hold anyone off. They have a key to my bedroom, and not to mention my family is full of werewolves.".
He gave me a look then rolled his eyes,"I'm not done yet Kayleigh. You didn't even give me a chance to move the freaking thing.".
I cocked my head to the side,"What thing?".
As the question rolled off my tongue, Lucas had my dresser and was pushing it in front of the door. He finally had it in front of the door and then walked over to stand by my bed. "That thing. No one should be able to get through that without a little struggle.".
He then proceeded to walk over to the window and slammed it shut followed by locking the window with the lock that was placed on it. He pulled the blinds and shut the curtain.
"Lucas, what is with the house arrest? You're treating me like a prisoner on parol.".
He sighed with his back to me as he finished up on the window. He leaned forward and placed his hands on the walls so he was bending a little bit as his head was hung over while he looked at the ground,"Kayleigh, you don't understand. I NEED to talk to you and find out what has been up with you and why you're acting the way you are. You are my mate, and I expect to know everything and anything about you. And not only do I expect it but I want to. I have deep feelings for you Kayleigh, and although we are not mated yet and you don't even have my mark, I still have a strong pull to you and can sort of feel your feelings. I want to be able to help you when you need it or want it.".
I began, "Lucas, you don't underst--".
Lucas interrupted me,"No, I may not understand now. But I promise you this. I WILL understand and know by the end of this night because neither of us are leaving this room until we have put everything on the table. No more secrets Kayleigh, I beg you. Not only do I want you Kayleigh, but I need you. You are like a necessity to me now. I agree, I may not have shown you much attention before we found out we were mates, but that is because you are one of the good girls and I didn't want to ruin that for you by being the bad boy that came in and ruined your life and reputation.".
I sighed,"Lucas. I never felt like that...".
He turned around and looked at me with all seriousness,"Didn't you though? When I finally approached you a while back for the first time since elementary school, you acted like I was some stranger. You didn't want to talk to me that much and didn't even want to come to my party. Yes, I understood why, and that is the reason why I never approached you before. You have always been beautiful in my eyes, I just never tried to act on it and actually tell you to your face. It's my fault we began like we did. And for that I'm sorry.".
