Klaire's POV:

It was cold in here. The walls were driving me insane as they were all around me, 24/7. I was going mad. I swear I heard a wolf howl earlier in the next cell, or was it a few days ago? I had no idea what day it was, if it was day or night, or how long I've been here. They were slowly breaking me, making me become nothing other then an object, a toy they could use whenever they pleased.

My small figure had been curled in the corner of the room since I got here, I refused to move or speak. I was so scared of what was to come next. These blood sucking leeches mentioned something about me visiting the king in a weeks time to see what was to happen to me.

The king.

Oh God, I remember everything. The day I hit him, being strapped to the metal frame, the women with raven hair, him hovering above him. It felt like an eternity ago. But anyone wise enough would know that I don't have eternity in my favour. No, I was one of the unlucky souls that got the mundane life. The human life. The life that vampires of any kind could just come up to us and drain us dry and they wouldn't be punished.

The vampires officially ruled the world.

It was a little after I was born that they decided to take the world into their advantages and push us humans off the rails. What the once beautiful world was, was nothing more but torture and hell now. Vampires thrived off of it.

They succeeded in pushing us down to the bottom of the food chain and they wouldn't let us forget it. Ever. They didn't need much to push us off, after all they were impossibly stronger than us in many ways. They liked to torture the human mind slowly, liking the way that we slowly broke down into nothing but toys for them to use.

Most of us perished in the upbringing of those leeches, trying oh-so-desperately to save us from them, but nonetheless, we lost, and all in a matter of days.

Some of us were sent off to a place where they reproduced more of us 'humans' so they could have an endless supply of blood. The majority of us, on the other hand, where sent to pet stores or kingdoms of the wealthy vampires to be either bought or drunk from when seen fit.

Then there was the king, King Jasper Xiden, he was ruthless; killed more than any other vampire here. He was the king of every leech on this earth and he was empowered by his title. He killed with no mercy, drained the life out of others when they simply looked in his direction; yes, he was the worst of them all, and somehow I managed to still be alive after hitting him across the face.

Not that I could have helped it... well, I could have. He was saying rude things at the auction about me, saying he could drain the life from me if he wanted and he could control what I did, literally.

It was the day I was meant to be sold off to a kingdom as the lords of certain reputations were ready to buy a 'thing', as they called us. The king made a surprise appearance and every vampire and human went hectic and silent as he approached the podium, nobody knew what he was doing there. He took a step closer to me while I was standing on the podium ready to be auctioned off and my hand retracted and hit him across the face after he told me all those nasty things about me.
