Klaire's POV:

I glance at the screen in frustration, my eyes reading over the gut-wrenching words that I wished weren't true, but they were. All of it was true.

Pet stores have been broken into and all the humans had been drained of life, leaving the suspicion that a rogue vampire has attacked these humans for their enjoyment. Other reports of rogue vampires attacking royals and killing them for their enjoyment as well. We are left with this question: who exactly is attacking our kind?

I close off the window then, letting it go back to the desktop and rest back in the computer chair. It was Jasper who was attacking anyone he could find. Days before he had slaughtered a werewolf pack that were on the outskirts of Watersbound Creek.

I hadn't seen him in weeks, almost a month. I had tried desperately to try and track him down, but he made it impossible for me to do so. I just wanted him to come back, that's all I had hoped for during the stressful days and restless nights.

Zoe had tried to get me to move on, knowing that he wasn't to be coming back ever, and when and if we did find him, we'd have to kill him because it was too much of a risk to keep him alive. I remember crying all night at what she said, I still had hope that he would come back. No one is ever truly gone, are they?

I took a breath and unlock my phone to see two messages, one from Zoe and one from Lucas. Zoe text me saying that she was going to call Jasper's family to let them know what happened while Lucas had sent me links to more newspaper articles to hopefully get a lead onto where he was.

I put my phone back into my back pocket and begin to walk down to the kitchen where I make myself cereal and a cup of coffee. Just as I sit down, I hear the doorbell ring and roll my eyes before getting up and going over to answer it.

"Hello?" I say as I open the door and I see a man with jet black hair and chocolate brown eyes staring back at me. He frowns as he probably senses I'm human. "Can I help you?"

"Um, I'm here for King Jasper. I have a lead on the werewolf that has been tracking him." He says and I look at the floor.

I clear my throat, "he's not here right now. Can I leave it on his desk?" I say and he looks inside the house to see if he was there. "I said he wasn't here, did you not hear me with your supernatural hearing?"

The mans eyes then narrow down on mine. "Forgive me..." he said, but I knew he didn't mean that. He hands me the papers then, "tell him it's Lord Aiden." He then nodded his head and began to walk off.

I look down at the papers he gave me and flick through the top few. There was a list of names that were potential werewolves and what packs they belonged to. Then I came across Oscar and his pack. His name had been crossed out as well as Max's and the others that were in his pack and under it it said 'deceased'. I sigh and walk back up to Jasper's office to place the papers down before the phone started ringing.
