Klaire's POV:

My body was unresponsive. No movement, sound, thought or feeling came to me during those excruciating hours. Or was it days? I couldn't tell. All I knew was that I was lying down on a soft surface, a blanket draped over me and the constant sound of beeping to the right of me was going off. I laid immobile on whatever was underneath me, there was no one talking but there was someone breathing to the left of me, their breathing made me comfortable.

I heard a door open then, and as much as I tried to open my eyes to see who it was, I just couldn't. "Your majesty," a small voice spoke, there wasn't another sound then, and the small voice continued, "she's in a stable condition, she's bound to wake up soon. The knife did pierce her heart, and it was lucky that you gave her your blood in time, or else she'd be dead. Your blood is healing her, but because the wound was so fatal, it's healing her slowly." The person who I presumed the nurse to be.

It would make sense, the beeping of the monitor off to the side, the soft bed underneath me. "Thank you," I heard Jasper say quietly. His voice sounded so distant but right near my ear, he sounded like he had been crying.

"One more thing, my king... she might be able to hear you. You should talk to her, maybe it'll bring her back quicker." The nurse spoke before she left and the door closed behind her.

I heard shuffling and I could almost see the sadness on Jasper's face. He had turned to me, running a single finger down my face gently and moving a piece of hair out of my eyes. I wanted to lean into his touch, but I couldn't do anything. How did I end up getting in this situation? My thoughts were so clouded at the moment.

"Klaire?" I heard Jasper whisper quietly. There was a pause, "God, I sound stupid." He mumbled and I heard more shuffling and felt him press the side of his face against mine. "I need you here Klaire... call me selfish, but I still need you to reassure me everything okay," he mumbled and I heard him sob, "because I really don't think I'm okay at all."

I wanted to show him I was listening somehow, I wanted to squeeze his hand, touch his face, reassure him that I'm okay and that will be too. I just couldn't move and it frustrated me.

"Please wake up, Klaire." He whispered then before everything turned into complete darkness and I was left alone once again.

I didn't know how long I had been out. Days? Weeks? I slowly had peeled my eyes open, the heaviness made them almost impossible to do so. A groan left my lips at the burning light above me, God, it was so bright. As I went to turn my head, someone had their face above mine.

"Klaire?" I heard them ask, all worry lacing through their voice. I recognised it as Jasper. "Oh thank God." He said and I saw tears well in his eyes.

The next few days were a struggle, I had been taken home and told to take as much rest as possible, slowly building my strength up. Jasper had been there for me throughout it all, helping me shower, helping me put clothes on, feeding me, tucking me under the blankets. He was there throughout it all and I couldn't be anymore happier.
