Klaire's POV:

I stared at the man who I thought was dead minutes before. He looked like a wreck, confused, dirty, exhausted and unwell. He was looking around, taking in all the surroundings around us both like he hadn't seen the place before.

"What happened to me?" He asked quietly. His voice was hoarse, like he hadn't talked in ages, and his silver hair sat messily against his head and in front of his eyes. "Why am I alive?" He asked again and I shook my head. Zoe would want to know that he's alive .

I didn't know what to think, how was he alive for starters? Was it a witch? Was it Martha? No, it couldn't have been, she's dead. I grab his arm and begin to lead him to Zoe's room when he pulled away.

"N- No, she- she can't know I'm alive." He said and turned away from me. "You're not even meant to know I'm alive. What am I doing here?" He said like he was talking to himself.

I furrow my eyebrows, "Lucas, what are you on about? Zoe would want to know-" He cut me off then, shoving me to the closest wall and I gasp. "What's wrong with you?" I ask him and he stares down at me with unreadable eyes.

He pulled away then, like he hadn't meant to do that. "I'm sorry, um- don't tell Zoe, please. I can't let her know I'm alive." He said before he left the house. I blink a few times before quickly making my way down the hall to the kitchen before down another hallway Zoe's room. Of course I was going too!

She sat on the bed, cross-legged and staring off into the distance. Her head snapped toward me as I burst through the door and I saw tears in her eyes, but I knew that she would want to hear this. "You won't believe what just happened!"

She turned to me then and swung her feet over the edge of her bed. "What is it?" She asked and looked at me like she was trying to read my mind, but I beat her too it.

"Lucas," I breathed out, "he's not dead." Zoe immediately was in front of me, holding my arms in place and looked me in the eyes sternly. "I'm not lying... he- he was so confused and it was like he was trying to make sense of everything. He told me not to tell you that he was alive and that he shouldn't have told me either... Zoe- I- what's happening?" I ask her quietly, nothing but confusion laced writhing my voice.

So he wasn't dead, even after the ruthless Jasper had ripped his heart from his chest? My mind raced with many question, emotions and possible situations as to why he was still alive, but none of them made sense outside of the depths of my mind. Where was he now? Was he going to come back? Where did he go in the first place? My eyebrows furrow are all the questions in my head, desperately trying to figure out why he was alive, or vampire alive at least.

Zoe seemed to share the same facial expressions as me, us both staying silence for a moment as we tried to gather our thoughts. Plus, what would Jasper think about all this? Would he be glad that he was still alive? Well, of course he would, but would he let his emotions take place and he wonder what happened to Lucas as well? He did rip out his heart after all.
