The next morning, I woke up to an empty bed, Elijah's clothes and shoes were gone, a sudden panic awakened in my heart, did he leave without me? I lay there staring at the ceiling, regretting not leaving with him last night when he asked me to. I cursed at myself and grabbed my phone to check the time. It was 10am but that's not what caught my attention, I had an unread text message from Elijah.

Good Morning Sweetheart, Alaric came home so I left out the window to ensure I won't cause any inconveniences for you. I doubted he'd be pleased to see me in your bed, this may have also decreased your chances of getting him to agree to our little vacation, that is if you've still willing to accompany me? Let me know when you're awake Darling.
-E.M.

I let out a sigh of relief, he didn't leave and it just made me realise that I would not let Alaric make me stay here when I could be in France with that man.

Morning :) I haven't changed my mind, don't worry. I'll talk to Alaric about it today. -A.S.

i put away my phone and went for a shower after which I made myself a coffee and another one for Alaric who conveniently come into the kitchen two minutes later.

"Good morning Al" he greeted

"Morning Ric, here" I handed him his coffee "I made you coffee"

He glanced at me suspiciously "I usually have to steal your coffee" he stated thoughtfully "what exactly are you up to?"

"I not up to anything! Can't I just be nice and make you coffee..." I smiled knowing I have been caught "jeez can't even accept a nice gesture Ric" I rolled my eyes at him.

"Yeah, yeah, spit it out kiddo" he grinned back at me as he took a seat at the table "I'll try keep an open mind, you're not marrying Elijah though" he added with a serious look on his face.

"Ric! I don't want to marry him, what the hell!" I protested

"But why do I have a feeling it's something got to do with him?" He raised an eyebrow at me and took a sip of his coffee.

"Ehhh..." I hesitated "it might... you see the thing is, Esther was defeated last night and Elijah kinda wants a break from all this, so he asked me to leave with him" I started explaining but seeing the look on Rics face I quickly added "Only for a little while of course! We'll be back but we just want a bit of alone time you know" I scratched the back of my head waiting for his reaction.

"Isn't it a bit too early Al?" He frowned "I mean you don't know him that well and he does kill a lot of people, you don't want to end up as his next victim."

"What the fuck" I stood up out of my chair enraged "I thought you said he's the best choice out of the bunch and agreed not to judge! I've killed people too Ric! Do you see me the same way you see him"

"No Al, it's not like that okay, I did say all that but a vacation on your own with him already?" He asked skeptically

"I want to get away from everything that's happening in this town Ric, only for a while, it'll be safe to learn how to control myself there and I've never been outside of the states, please Ric I really want to go" I begged a little.

"Okay, okay. For now you can make me breakfast and I'll think about it" he announced.

"Fine" I rolled my eyes at him for taking advantage of the situation.

"Hurry up though, I'm hungry" he went to sit on the couch and watch tv.

The minute he said he was hungry I realised I was too, I poured myself the second blood bag from Elijah into a glass, remembering Elijah and I forgot to practice my control last night but I guess we'll have plenty of opportunities in France. I sipped on the blood while making Alaric and I some scrambled eggs and bacon with toast. I got another text from Elijah just when I finished eating.
