NW: IV. Goodbye

[Olivia's POV]

Being a half vampire makes me unable to sleep too, so most nights I stay up staring blankly at the ceiling or study for my spells but my energy feels drain whenever I used my warlock powers or even try to conjure other spells that I have yet tried gives me the moment to rest my eyes and sleep like a human.

But with everything that happened tonight, I was falling to slumber.

The next morning I wake up, my phone beeped a text from Alice.

Alice: We've already come to a decision. Are you sure you're not coming with us?

I looked at her text sadly, it already hurts me deep down not coming with them or the fact of them leaving and not being able to go to their house normally without hearing all the noise and jokes they make. It's still painful on both sides. I texted back

Olivia:Someone's gotta keep an eye on Bella. I wouldn't have stayed if there was no other choice. You know that very well

A quick reply is what I get

Alice:We do, but Jasper and I were hoping you'd come. Carlisle told us and we all understood

Having no strength to reply to Alice, this slow goodbye is eating away my sanity so I left my phone alone and prepared myself to go to visit Bella then head to work. As expected on my side, the Cullens were all a no-show at school today, I noticed how Bella kept looking around for them, the longing and hopeful looks in her eyes was also torturing my insides. I feel like I won't be able to hold it in if she asks me. But she seemed to have understood my hint and lets me go to work, guess the event last night still plagued both our minds.

My shift ended, I suddenly got a text.

Carlisle:We're by your building to say goodbye. The kids insisted

Olivia:See you there, then.

Arriving to my building, indeed Carlisle was right. They were all there waiting by their parked cars on the side beside my building. All gazes were on me as I neared them.

Though a part of me tells that this will not be the last that I'll see them but it's gonna be a long time for them to come back. I went to Esme first after I eyed everyone and noticed one copper haired vampire missing. Turning to Esme in question she understood my look.

"He went to say goodbye to Bella" she answered, well I can't blame him for that. I smiled gently "Take care of them Esme"

"I will" then the both of us shared a tight hug. I moved next to a quiet Rosalie, her face no longer held the mean stoic face. Just plain and a hint of sadness

I sent her an encouraging smile "Behave, Rosalie"

The blonde cracked up a small smile at me, "Can't make promises but I'll try" we hugged too but not as tight like Esme. She's trying to remain strong, believe me, I am too.

Emmett suddenly join to me after I released his mate "Instead of goodbye, let's settle with seeya later alligator. Momma bear" he hugs and twirled me around earning everyone a chuckle. At least tension breaker there.

I replied as he puts me down "After awhile, crocodile"

Alice walked up to me "Oh Oli" and hugs me just as tight, I returned it.

Going up to her mate, Jasper willingly opened his arms to me and engulfed me too. He whispered in my ear "I'm gonna miss you" his texan accent cutting in

I muttered on his clothed chest "Missing you already"

When we both let go, the others that I already bid goodbye went to their cars leaving me and Carlisle alone. We stand face to face now, he hands me a small wrapped paper

"Here are our phone numbers, but you can't let Bella know" he said as I tucked the paper in my pocket

"I know" nodding. If I was still a hybrid tears would be falling from my eyes.

Carlisle holds both my hands, the other caressing the Cullen bracelet that he gave me, remembering the promise he made to me up on our hill.

He whispered "I promise I'll come back to you"

"I will always be here waiting" I said back.

Carlisle puts his hand on the nape of my neck slightly lifting my face to an angle where he attached his lips to mine, my hands immediately gripped on the collar of his jacket deepening the kiss. His other hand now secured on my waist. Breaking for air, our foreheads still leaned together shutting our eyes to take in the moment. I leaned to embrace him, he instantly surrounds his arms on me

Slowly opening my eyelids, Carlisle smiled down at me then leans again to kiss my forehead and returned to his car driving away to take the lead with the rest of the cars left.

Heading up to my flat, it's much more silent than the usual. No more weird creaking of my floor when Carlisle walked in my flat as he entered from my window, no more runaway late at night to the favourite hill of ours, no more Alice and Rosalie begging for girls day shopping, no more random cooking time with Esme or playful moments with the boys. Everything is just gone by a flash.

Meantime I should just save the new numbers that Carlisle gave me to my phone but I also felt another paper or envelope stuck somewhere in my back pocket. I took it out to see it was an airplane ticket to Denali

A simple message written on the other side of the envelope

'In cade you missed us too much, come visit us. -Alice & Jasper'

Those sneaky little......I swear, even though the Cullens are not blood related but they seemed to also take up on their father's sneakiness. It was creeping me out in a good way. They probably sneaked it in my pocket while hugging goodbye.

Who knows when they'll come back or how long they'll be gone. But for now, one way or another I have to cope and be strong for Bella.
