My happiness came to an end the next morning. As usual, he awoke and left within minutes. Any words I tried to muster out wouldn't have made him stay. Something had happened, something he felt.
I was left alone again but was now left with the sweet memories of our night together. It felt so right, so beautiful even though I knew the truth of our situation.
I yawned and slowly pulled myself out of my bed and let the nurse re-brace my leg. It was stiff and sore, but it was healing at least.
Today was the day I'd finally make an appearance.
A few handmaids came in and we exchanged our morning pleasantries. They undid my ponytail left by Iylin and created two French braids that wrapped around my head.
Iylin helped and fetched a few small flowers from my garden that were white and dainty. She inserted them gently into my now pinned braids and went to the front of me.
"You look beautiful, Your Grace," she said kindly, moving to my vanity to start gathering her next tools. She dashed a bit of rouge on my cheeks and a little kohl for my eyes as she finally covered the faint bits of bruising left with some flesh toned color. They were nearly healed thankfully.
"Okay, Your Grace, what would you like to wear today?"
We walked together to my closet as we went through my different dresses. I wanted something that would catch his eye. I picked a gold silk gown that was form fitted and thin. It draped across my body with skinny straps and had a deep V cut that led down to my breasts. I turned back around to face Iylin as she handed me a whimsical gold crown to match.
"I love it! You look gorgeous. Is this for... Atlas?" Iylin teased, giving me a hinting smile. I laughed awkwardly as I played it off.
"Nope, not for anyone but myself. And look at how well it covers my leg," I said, moving the gown to the side to show her.
It hid my brace pretty well and I was ready to stop hiding in my room after the previous night. It also did just so happen to make me look slightly... sexy? I hated using that word but after all my days spent cooped up in the castle, I wanted something to make a statement.
I also needed to straighten things out with Atlas, I had been kicking myself that we fought.
I practiced walking in my brace for a minute to get a normal gait settled. Comfortable with the walk, I left my quarters at 0900 hours.
I saw Atlas at the bottom of the castle with some of the other generals. As I approached him his eyes grew wide.
"Prin—" he coughed awkwardly as his voice squeaked.
"Princess, what—what can we do for you?" he finally stuttered out. His eyes lingered on my body and his cheeks burned red when I noticed his stares.
"I just wanted to make sure we're okay. I'm sorry for fighting with you."
My nipples pebbled through my dress and I attempted to hide my breasts with my arms as his eyes looked down for a brief second before looking up again.
"Yes of course, we're fine."
I glanced over at the First Order ships for a second and saw Kylo across the field. He was on duty giving commands to the stormtroopers at the Finalizer.
I forced myself to look away and kept my eyes on Atlas. I let out a short breath and attempted to keep my focus on our conversation.
"Okay good, I just wanted to make sure. I hate fighting with you, and I really do appreciate you keeping me safe. I love you Atty."
