𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧 ➸ 𝐦𝐚𝐱 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 ✓

𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙮-𝙩𝙬𝙤

They walked in silence, not that they need to do some talking. The silence was comforting. Maybe this is what they actually needed. A bit of silence after all the ruckus between Logan and the group.

After walking for a bit in the park, Rachel stopped in front of a large tree. Max soon realised it was their tree. The same tree where the two of them would sit down and talk for hours when they were little, separated from their other friends. Maybe that's what made the two closer.

Max snapped out of his gaze to see Rachel sitting herself down on to the ground. Following her actions, he sat down next to her with his legs stretched in front of him. "I haven't been here in a while" he spoke, leaning against the tree trunk. "Neither do I" she softly spoke.

"This is nice" she mumbled, relaxing against the tree.

"Hm?" he hummed, looking at her.

"I said this is nice. It has been a while since the two of us came here together, and I think the peace and quiet of the park help" she smiled, returning his gaze. "Wait, you've been here before? Alone?" he asked, slightly surprised. "Yeah...sorry if I didn't tell you. I came here this morning to gather my thoughts and everything..." Rachel explained. "You don't—have to be sorry for that" Max spoke, giving her a small smile.

"It's actually me who has to say sorry..." he started. Max looked at Rachel. Seeing her listening, he continued. "I'm sorry for not replying to your texts or even answering your calls. I was busy with everything but that's not the reason..."

"I was just scared. Yeah, it sounds pathetic but I was scared that maybe everything will just change even with the phone calls and everything. So I thought maybe distancing myself from you will be the best, or so I thought"

"A few days after I stopped answering you, I started to get worried. I was always thinking of how you've been and if you were fine and I just wanted to call you"

"But I didn't because all that's in my head was maybe you're already tired of me because I didn't answer you and hated me for that reason"

"So I sunk it all in and you should've seen my face when I saw you came back. I thought you were a just new neighbour or something so Harvey and I visited and when I saw you, I—I didn't know what to actually do"

"So yeah..."

Max finished. Everything grew silent and the only thing he could hear was how his heart was beating really fast. From now on, he doesn't know what'll happen next.

"Did it ever cross your mind that we'll see each other again?" he asked once more.

"I did, but I didn't really mind" Rachel answered. "Yes, I grew concerned about what will happen if we did see each other again. But just the single thought of that I didn't mind because since we were little kids, hell, even since we wore diapers, we were already pretty close, so? what could go wrong"

"Sometimes, I even think that maybe the four of us will always be stuck by each other's side and now we have Emily, that makes us five. We'll be that one friend group where we grow old together and eventually tell our children how such idiots we are" Rachel finished, chuckling at the end.

Max laughed, slightly tilting his head upwards. It was now when he realised how it started to get dark. "We should go now, I'm pretty sure dinner is ready soon" Rachel chuckled, standing up from the ground and dusting herself. Max did the same and stretched his arms up. He started to walk, Rachel trailing behind him.

"Hey Max" she called from behind.

"yeah?" he turned around.

"You know I forgive you right?" she smiled, locking eyes with him.

He smiled, engulfing Rachel a big hug. He was relieved that everything he bottled up from her was out. Even more relieved when she hugged him back.

lol, what even is a holy chapter?

what i meant to say was that this chapter is special because it has the featured part of the book and max and rachel's special bonding moment ;(
