-Cayde-
One month later
I wake up and if I was human, I'd probably be sweating. I think about what I had dreamed. I'd been reliving that day over and over in my sleep. I'm still not over it. My son...Ace...had been alive. And I lost him to those damned Hive. Bela used to be my wife. I still can't wrap my head around it all.
I walk to the planning room, greet people as usual, but my mind is elsewhere. It had been a little over a month since the incident at the moon and Blaze's funeral. No one's heard from Bela. She left after the funeral, saying she just needed some time away from the Tower. Everyone understood of course, but I'm starting to worry. Aside from her disappearance, a rogue Guardian appeared under different monikers. This Guardian built a reputation in a short amount of time. They called this Guardian, Death, Chaos, and Rogue. Shiro brought me rumors of this Guardian before, a long time ago.
"You worry too much. Rumors are just that, rumors." he said.
Thinking about it makes me feel anxious. I'm reminded of a time in which Bela was once an assassin for hire. The only name we got from her was Havoc though.
"Glad to see you're still here, Cayde." Ikora says when I walk in. I nod at her and get to work, the usual paperwork, giving bounties and quests, listening to my Hunters stories of their adventures. Xander walks into the planning room about an hour in and heads towards me.
"Whatcha got there Xander?" I ask curiously. Xander looks grave, looking to Ikora and Zavala.
"I found who's been killing hordes of well, everything, including the near fatal injuries of the teams we've sent..." he says. He hands his report in and the Vanguard immediately call for a meeting.
"She's grieving." I say. Zavala glares at me and Ikora stays silent for the moment, as usual.
"She's out of control. I know that she's always been unstable and unpredictable but this. She's crossing the line. She's not even doing our bounties, she's going out of her way to hunt things down." he says. I sigh and Xander looks at us.
"And about her...when she first emerged as an assassin, she already had those nicknames. They just weren't...well known unless you digged enough. But she was already known as Chaos, Death, and Rogue in different parts of the system. There were patterns I found that were similar to Bela's, or Havoc's, assassination techniques and this Guardian. I hadn't seen it until recently. But that's when I pieced it together." he says. I look at Xander and he looks apologetic.
Make her sound worse why don't you?
"I know it looks bad but I also know that this is Bela we're talking about. She's been through a lot. Have you forgotten that they tortured her? Twice now. We never even bothered asking her if she was ok, if she needed help, or someone to talk to." I say, looking at Zavala.
"That doesn't give her a right to kill fellow Guardians or go on a rampage." he snaps.
"Let me find her. I can talk sense into her. Please...Zavala. She's not in a good place. She needs my help." I insist.
Damnit Zavala, you're hard headed in times you need you to listen to me.
"Find her. Make her see reason. Or we won't have a choice but to confine her to the Tower. You have three days, Cayde. If you fail, we'll have no choice but to use extreme force." he says. I glare at him.
"If you do this, she'll only stray further from the Light." I say. I was going to lay into Zavala some more about it but was interrupted by an urgent message patching through from Xander's Ghost.
