I was dreaming.

It was always the same, with me, my friends and everyone I knew in it

The dream started off with me in my house. My old house. The one that I used to live in, with my parents.

I was 9 again, playing in the garden. I remember there was a swing at the back, under a little willow tree. We had a small fish pond too, but all the fish had died.

I was near the flowerbeds, picking a bouquet (as I thought it looked like). It was a warm summer evening, and I wanted to give a special treat for my mom and dad, I think it was their anniversary or something.

The picnic table was all set up; I had decorated it myself.

Suddenly, Mrs Helston appeared. She had sad, teary eyes.

I realized this wasn't a dream anymore, it was a memory.

She had come to tell me the news that my parents were dead. They had just died in an accident.

I remember running off, out of the house. I ran into the local park.

This felt so real.

It was like I was reliving it.

I had hid behind a bush.

Suddenly the sky turned black. It was night.

Since it was a dream, I knew anything could happen.

I walked around the park, which was dark and empty.

Something told me I needed to run back. But I couldn't. I wasn't in control of my dream.

I could sense something watching me. Someone. I looked around. My nine year old self was tiny, so it looked like the trees towered over me.

I began to breathe heavier.

I was still roaming around the now forest- like park. There was this eerie atmosphere, suffocating me with silence.

I felt something curl around my ankle. It felt cold.

I cautiously looked down.

My heart stopped.

It was a hand. I tried to kick it off but it wouldn't let go.

I forced myself around to find out what it was clinging on to my leg.

I stopped breathing. It was a dark distorted figure, it's eyes were black with red pupils.

I tried to scream but my throat was dry. I clutched my neck.

My voice was gone.

The thing pulled me down to the ground and started to drag me.

I kicked and kicked and kicked until finally I was free.

I started to run again. But this time, even faster.

I didn't care how much my legs hurted, how much I wanted to stop.

Was it behind me?

I couldn't just slow down. It would get me.

I don't know what it even was. I wanted to wake up so badly.
