By the time we had arrived at the last stop, it was already dawn.
'Let's go,' Claude gestured to the door.
We got up and left the bus, walking down the empty street.
The morning sky was gray. It was going to rain soon.
'Where are we?' I asked.
'In a different town,' he replied.
'Yeah, I know we are genius, I mean what's it called?'
He looked around shrugging his shoulder.
My belly started to rumble. 'I'm hungry,' I moaned at him.
He rolled his eyes. 'You're like a child,' I heard him mutter.
'Let's find a cafe,' I complained.
He shook his head. 'Not yet,'
'But I'm hungry!'
'Shut up!' He yelled at me.
I stopped walking, crossing my arms and pouting like a spoilt little kid.
'Fine,' he groaned. 'We'll get some food.'
We were walking around, in search of any cafes that were open at this time. We finally found a small one near a gas station.
'Do you have any money on you?' I asked, searching my own pockets.
He nodded.
We sat on a small table.
The place was filthy, and it reeked but I guess we had to make do with it.
'You know, demons don't need to eat to survive,' Claude whispered.
'But I want to eat, like the normal person I used to be.' I replied back.
I could tell Claude was being as friendly as he could to me after what he had said in the bus, but I guess it just wasn't working.
When the waitress finally came to our table, I ordered both of us a plate of pancakes.
I started to eat mine. 'It could us a bit more sugar,' I said.
'And it could use a lot more flavour as well,' Claude added.
I started to laugh and he laughed with me.
After we finished, Claude payed for it and we left.
It had already started to rain outside, but just tiny drops.
'What do we do now?' I asked.
'Look for somewhere to stay for the time being,'
'How about that motel over there?' I asked pointing at a small building at the end of the street.
'Fine,' he replies as we both walked towards it.
It was shabby inside, not many people there either.
Claude had booked a room on the middle floor (it was a three storey building).
The room was a small square room with two single beds on either end and a small box of a TV on a solitary coffee table at the middle of the wall. There were cheap handmade paintings handing all around the room and a door with a chipped paint coat that was probably the door to the bathroom.
'I get the bed next to the window,' I claimed, throwing my backpack over it then jumping over it myself.
'Remember, its only temporary,' Claude stated turning on the small TV and flicking onto the news channel.
Sure enough, there was a report of a murder that had happened last night and the police were looking for the culprits.
'Will they find us?' I asked nervously, sitting up on the bed.
Claude sat down on his own. 'Nope. Humans are useless at finding us. Not unless they team up with demon hunters which is likely they will. And then they'll know who to find,' he turned his head towards me.
I shuddered.
Then finally I asked. 'What are demon hunters?'
'They are what they're called. They're humans that are trained to hunt down and kill demons.'
'But you said humans can't kill demons.'
'I never said that.'
I layed down on the hard bed. 'So then its true. Allen was only with me to kill me. He never loved me.'
There was a silence.
'Well you couldn't have loved him back anyway,' Claude finally said 'Demons don't feel love,'
He got up and put on his coat.
I sat up 'What are you doing?' I moaned.
'Do you want to go outside?' He asked, wearing his black converses.
'But its raining outside,' I pointed at the window, which had raindrops racing down the glass. It was heavily raining outside.
'Fine,' I said, finally giving in.
I too got up and put on my coat and shoes.
We walked out the motel.
I was trying to shield myself from the heavy raindrops.
On the other hand, Claude was happily playing in the rain and splashing in puddles until his converses were soggy.
We came to a barbed wire fence with a forest on the other side.
'Let's go in there!' He said, pointing at a hole at the end of the fence.
He eagerly crawled through it and I unwillingly followed him.
The floor of the forest was extremely muddy and I had to be careful not to slip.
When we were deep enough in the forest, Claude finally spoke to me.
'Let's climb a tree,' he said pointing at a really tall one.
'Oh hell no,' I yelled.
I had a fear of heights.
(A/N Lol I have a fear of heights too.)
