1 week and 4 days later

Shawn really proved his point when he said we were now strangers. The day i went to his office was the last kind gesture i got from him. He didn't give me secret glances anymore, he'd pass me everyday at work and when i try calling his attention, the four men who always walked beside him, or Martha would shove me off. He didn't text me anymore, not even as Eddie.

And then, there was my mother and her questions

How is my son-in-law?
When did you say you're getting married ?
When are we going wedding shopping?
Have you gotten a gown yet?
And how about the venue? Is it a church or a vineyard?
Who's managing the catering?

Another thing that bothered me was the fact that the police were tailing me. Going to work, coming home, they were everywhere, watching my move like i was a fugitive.

In 3 days, one of two things will happen. Either, i get married to Shawn or... I get convicted for murder and possibly spend the rest of my life in jail. It's not like i could do anything after Shawn gave his statement to the police.

Sigh.

"Curtis, Martha has some issue with the hall." Susan approached me, shaking me out of my thoughts. I simply nodded and headed for Martha who was at the centre of the hall and her figure seemed to be complaining.

"This colour, it's too dull. I don't like it."

"Martha, it's a business party, not a children's party." I said from behind her and she turned meet my gaze.

"I know. That's why i want more colors on the flowers and the ..."

I crossed my arms as i didn't let her finish. "If i may ask, Who is the event planner here?"

"Well, who is Mr. Lannister's assistant? Oh Wait, that's Me. And i happen to know his tastes as well so don't argue with me." She said with so much attitude.

And i felt something spark in me. Jealousy? There was more to that statement, i knew it.

"It took us hours to get this done, you can't just come and change everything because it's not your taste."

She clears her throat. "Mr. Lannister's taste."

"Don't come here and brag about anything, Miss know it all. I know what my fiancé will like so there's no need to lecture me about it."

"You..."

"And before you lecture me, please work on your fashion tastes. Polka dot's and stripe's don't go together, you look like a piñata."

That earned some 'oooou' from the people around except Susan who couldn't contain her laughter, making Martha walk away, embarrassed and annoyed.

As usual I'd stay in the shadows supervising, making sure the party goes smoothly. It was a party for successful business men in the city so i dressed to fit in, at least. I wore a purple long-sleeved suede gown, floor length and had a split that stopped at my thigh. My makeup was moderate and my lips had on a red matte lipstick, my blonde hair was in a bun. I wore silver earrings and necklace as accessories. Black pencil heel to top it all.

More like dress to impress Shawn.

'Where is he anyway?' I thought as i checked the time in my phone.

9:05 pm.

The party started an hour ago and he should have arrived. He was always invited as a guest of honour when a public party was thrown in Gold Express.
