We took a 360 turn of doom and with every second the car got closer to its destination, my heart sank.
I needed all the help in the world right now but I found myself as helpless as a snowflake in flames.
With a bugged device and a bugged tracker on my neck, there was so little I could do... to count the buildings as Aman's goons, Dee and the dude on the wheel, drove with light speed through the city.
Since news came about the bomb's extraction from the event - the little girl who fainted, Dee's countenance became a tense one, and she only muttered curse words for the rest of the trip.
"Out," Dee said as she opened the door for me.
I stepped down and a hint of hope curled in me. I stared at the high building we stopped at. It was the same one we registered Seth's treatment.
But why here of all places? Could my family be held captive here? Or are the heavens secretly behind me in this silent fight?
If they were, this was my chance.
Suddenly the idea of saving everyone bubbled some excitement in me yet I kept my expression straight, and my face as tough as a rock.
"Remember your line? I need your best acting skills right now."
Yet for some reason I felt like I could win this.
''Don't play silly games with me, okay?'' Dee's annoying voice sounded again.
I paused and took a dramatic turn towards her. "For the eighth time. Yes. Do I look dumb to you?" I snapped back.
''Fix that attitude.''
''Look, if you want these people to believe you're my assistant you better act like it and keep your shoulders down.'' I didn't care if her face boiled red hot at my words and she responded by flashing the gun she kept hidden inside her coat.
The receptionist easily gave the room number the little girl was rushed to. Wanna know why? Dee, again, used me as a pawn. As the event planner from the same exclusive wedding where the little girl fainted, I only had to slip a name, an invitation, and introduce Dee as my assistant.
We waited outside the emergency room, waiting... waiting... and more waiting. We barely sat for two minutes and yet it felt like a lifetime. My heart sank with every person that passed by. I needed to communicate with someone. But I couldn't speak. That means it has to be a note. But how? Dee kept her eyes peeled on me.
Suddenly, the doors to the ER opened up and the little girl's parents were summoned for paperwork.
Why? I had no freaking idea.
Then I scanned Dee's face and the smirk of evil she had on was mind-boggling. ''Wait here.'' She said as she slid her way through the doors.
When I heard her knock down the body of the medical staff present, everything blanked before me.
But this was no time to process anything.
I took slow steps back and eventually ran out of the waiting room to look for help. The hallway was scattered with people, medicals, and patients, moving east to west as if nothing bothered them.
I silently ran across the hallway like I was some sick and crazy patient who escaped the asylum. I needed to find something. Anything at all. A note. A pen. Or even better, Shawn.
Shawn...
Shawn... our baby... I have to be strong...
And then strong arms hastily covered my mouth and pulled me into a dimly lit medical ward.
