I waited... waited and waited, yet there was still no sign of him.
Minutes turned into hours. Hours into days.
"Why aren't you eating?" Shawn asked.
10 fucking days ago he was supposed to be home! There were no calls from him, no texts, and yet today he just waltz in like everything was alright.
"Nothing." I said.
Like don't I deserve an explanation or something?
"You don't look okay. Wanna talk about something?" He said before taking a spoon full of his oats.
"Wanna tell me where your ass has been?" I muttered.
He cocked his brow. "Did you say something?"
"Nah... Nothing." This was me trying to be the respective wife I ought to be.
Silence lurked till I spoke, "Shawn, I was thinking, since you're not around all the time, I would like Seth to come stay with me for a while. This house is just too big for just me."
"No."
"What?" Maybe I heard wrongly.
"No one is allowed to visit. You can go out with him, but don't bring him here." He said.
"Why? I need someone to keep me company."
He took a spoonful and said, "You'll be fine on your own. Curtis, we're a newly wedded couple and we need our space."
"Oh, so you know that yet all you ever do is leave me alone."
"No one visits, period. It's always been the rule before we got married, you know that."
"If you performed your duties towards me, would I want to break your rules? What's your problem? We aren't talking about a stranger. Seth is my brother." I said almost yelling.
"No."
"All you ever say is no." I snapped back and walked out on the food.

After leaving the dinning table, I went to my room to lay my head and some minutes later, Shawn came in with the tray of the food I abandoned downstairs. He didn't really apologize, but somehow he found a way to put a smile on my face again. All the anger I had been feeling for 10 days disappeared in 10 minutes. He fed me and told me stories about him and Mei growing up, though he didn't have the best childhood.
That was what I wanted, his love, his attention and his affection. Only his.
The last thing I could remember now was after feeding me, I fell asleep in his warmth, whilst he spooned me. I stretched my hand to the other side of the bed, his warmth was gone. Then I opened my eyes and he was actually gone.
Slowly, I crawled out of bed. Blinking regularly to clear the blurry vision. When I was stable on my feet I began searching for him. I was sure he was still home when I dialed his number and his phone rang on the bed. I searched everywhere in the house, but I couldn't find him. It occurred to me there was one more place I hadn't checked.
His office door automatically opened for me and I entered. The office was dead silent, he couldn't be here, I concluded. I hadn't taken five steps away from the office when his voice came.
"Babe?"
I spun and he was standing there.
"I was looking for you." I closed the distance between us. "Where were you?"
