The Sixth Dragon (a fairytail reader insert)

A/n + Chapter Fifteen- They Hatch!

Hello! Yes it is I, your lovely author Funkdoh! I am not dead!

I apologize for not posting. I was having a bit of trouble with keeping up with online school and writing. (plus I might have gotten too caught up in re-binge watching fairytail for the millionth time XP) again I am sorry, but as an apology... DOUBLE POSTS FOR ALL OF YOU!!! <3

We've had the eggs for a few months now. I was starting to get worried. What if the eggs don't hatch. What if we did something wrong. These thoughts went round and round in my head. Even with all this worry in my mind, I couldn't help but smile and laugh. The eggs have defiantly been more active recently. Sometimes, if we tap on the eggs, we could hear the little critter inside tap back.

With natsu's egg, nothing has changed on the outside. It's the same as my egg aside from the small crack on the side. It hasn't gotten any bigger as far as I could tell. One day we were doing our normal stuff when all of the sudden, Natsu and the others started to freak out.

"What did you do!" Natsu yelled at grey.

I stood up carrying my egg and walked over to see what all the commotion was about. "What happened." I asked worriedly.

"Grey cracked it!" Natsu yelled again with a panicked look on his face. I looked down at the blue egg and saw a big crack that was bigger than the one on my orange one.

"I did not!" Grey yelled right back at him also looking panicked.

We heard another cracking sound and I turned my gaze back to the egg. The crack got bigger and bigger, spreading around the egg. I looked down to my egg to see if it was ok. It didn't look any different and I calmed down but I still was scared about what was happening to the former smooth surface of the blue egg.

"Stop freaking out guys." Lisanna said calmly. "Its not cracking, its hatching!" That seemed to calm everyone down. She looked excited as everyone watched the egg.

All of the sudden, the egg in my arms made a tapping sound. It was louder than the other times. I jumped and hastily but carefully put it down. The small crack that had already been there grew. side by side the cracks gradually grew and grew. then, the blue egg fell apart and out came...

"A cat?" Some people said in united confusion.

Out came a blue cat. But it wasn't a normal cat. It had wings!

Everyone was staring in awe at the small figure as it slowly came down and landed on Natsu's head. I smiled as everyone awed at the furry creature. I stared expectantly at the orange egg in front of me. for a while I heard small tappings as if it was struggling. Eventually, the egg did in fact split open. In the place of the egg lay a small orange cat surrounded by its egg which had shattered into pieces.

I stared at her, a huge smile on my face as she looked up at me, her red eyes meeting mine. They were the most beautiful things I've ever seen. They were bright, possibly the brightest eyes in the world. Her ears were big and pointed with black tips and she had three black markings going up her forehead. She kind of looked like a fox. One thing that I was a little concerned about was that she was quite smaller than the other cat.

"Aw she's so cute" Erza said making me jump and snap out of my daze. I hadn't realized she was standing next to me.

I picked up the cat and it smiled at me. I smiled back. I hadn't remembered ever smiling this much in a very, very long time. Natsu came over to us holding his blue cat as if he were presenting him.

(I can't help but think of The Lion King XD)

"So," He said smiling just as much as me. "What are you going to name her? I'm naming him Happy! You know, cuz he made everyone happy."

I looked at the fur ball that was laying In my arms. She had fallen asleep. I don't see how she could with all of the noise from the guild but still she looked so peaceful. "I don't know..." I said, my voice trailing off into thought. Her eyes. her eyes looked like they were filled with fire. "How about flame."

And that became her name. Happy and Flame got their guild marks on their backs. Happy's was green while Flame's was yellow.

Now its been six years since flame and happy hatched and joined fairytail. Everyone has made quite a name for themselves. For instance, natsu and I are now known as the salamander and the serpent and Erza is Titania. Today I'm walking back to the guildhall from a job with flame.

"Geez I'm exhausted!" Flame says flying next to me.

(Yes the cats can talk for those who don't know)

"Ah c'mon it wasn't that bad. At least we got the money" I say with a smile. We head up the stairs and open the door to the guildhall. "We're back!" I announce proudly as I open the door.

We are met with many welcomes and smiles as we sit down at the bar.

"Welcome back you two." Mirajane greets us with a grin.

Mirajane has changed a lot over the years since Lisanna died two years ago. The three siblings  had gone on a S-class job and Lisanna was the only one that didn't return.

"So how was the job?" She asks "You know people have been trying to avoid that one because of the client. I heard he's... Tiering." She says.

"He's more than just tiering!" Flame complained.

"Oh no, now you've got her started." I said sarcastically rolling my eyes.

Flame complained on and on while we road the train, not helping with my motion sickness. I wanted to quickly change the subject.

"S-so uh..." I said looking around the guild. Then I noticed Natsu was no where to be seen "Where's Natsu?" I ask.

Krov speaks up from his table behind us. "I heard a rumor that a salamander was seen at Hargeon and told him about it." I give him an "are your serious" look and he returned it with a nervous smile. "What?"

"Why would a dragon randomly appear in Hargeon?" I asked him

He thought for a minute "Ohh..." He said quietly looking guilty.

"Natsu's gonna get mad." I say teasingly.

Krov starts chatting nervously with Joey and Chico probably trying to get his mind off of it.

"Well on that note, can I get a mango?" Flame says excitedly. She has been oddly obsessed with mangoes, in a cute way, since I introduced her to them.

Mirajane hands flame a mango and she happily slices it open. Suddenly I feel an arm wrap around my shoulders making me jump with a yelp. I turn to look at my familiar red haired friend as she gives me a wave.

"Just as jumpy as ever I see." Erza says, her heavy armored arm still resting of my shoulder. "Welcome back!"

We talk for a while about random things like magic and the guild. We were having fun just chatting, but of course that didn't last long. A piece of something, I couldn't even tell what it was, flew and hit Erza on the head.

Erza seemed like she was going to explode. She didn't really have the best anger management. She whirled around. "Who threw that?" she asked in a calm voice but I knew, as well as everyone else, that she was upset.

All fingers pointed to grey while he pointed to elfman. "Aw c'mon guys!" He said to everyone. He wanted to avoid Erza when she was upset just as much as everyone else.
