Chapter Seventeen- Mt. Hakobe

Eventually we ended up in a carriage bringing us up the mountain. I only had one question. Why did it have to be a carriage? I thought as I hung my head out the window.

"Why did you guys come with us?" Natsu asked groaning in pain at his motion sickness.

"I thought I could help." Lucy replied giving Natsu a sympathetic look. "Wow you really do get bad motion sickness don't you?" She then turned to me. "So you get it too?" She asked me.

"Mhm..." I hum, taking in a deep breath of the fresh air outside.

"Wow... and it seems really bad for you too." Lucy said.

"So what about you guys." Happy asks me and flame. "Why did you come along?"

"Because we knew that you two would do something stupid like blow up another town if we left you alone." Flame says bluntly. I closed the window and sat back in my seat nodding in agreement.

"I think I would be able to control Natsu if it came to that." Happy retorted only to get a disbelieving face from Flame.

"You guys are talking like I'm not even here." Natsu groaned, most likely still feeling sick.

Everyone was quiet aside from Natsu's complaints.

Eventually, the carriage stopped and Natsu jumped up as if he was revived from the dead. "Woohoo! The world stopped spinning!" Natsu shouted triumphantly. He happily bounded out of our ride looking like he felt a lot better. I instantly felt better as well when we stopped.

"I'm sorry but I can't take you any farther than this." the driver told us.

As I stepped down to the snowy floor, I was met with wind and ice buffeting at my face. I looked around and saw that we were standing in the middle of a blizzard. Lucy thanked the driver and we continued on walking. Lucy, Flame and I walked behind Natsu and Happy who were calling Macao's name.

"Why is it so cold?!" Lucy asked "I mean I know it's the mountains but it's summer. There shouldn't be weather like this anywhere in Fiore." She exclaimed.

"Well it's your fault for not coming prepared." Natsu said in a teasing voice.

Lucy looked at him in disbelief. "You're one to talk. Look at your clothes." She said pointing at him. He was wearing a black vest with baggy pants and wasn't wearing a shirt. That's what he normally wore. It was a normal outfit for men at his age, but still, he should have wore more seeing as we were going to the mountains "You're not wearing much either. How are you not freezing?" Lucy asked him.

Natsu just shrugged and started to hike up the mountain ahead of us. He and happy started calling out for Macao. I stayed behind with Lucy and Flame sat on my head. She was still a lot smaller than Happy which I was concerned about at first but it doesn't seem to be effecting her in any negative way.

"Natsu's basically weather proof." Flame explained with a laugh as she playfully fidgeted with my hair.

"Hmm" Lucy  hummed curiously. "Is that because of his magic?"  she asked.

"I don't really know." I said. "It would make sense." I looked over at her with a shy smile.

"Hey Y/N!" Natsu called to me "Why don't you and Flame fly up and see if you can get a better look from above." He suggested.

"Umm you sure?" I asked skeptically looking up at the strong winds higher up. "Its pretty windy up there."

"Aw c'mon Y/N its not that bad." Flame said.

Oh flame... You're too cocky for your own good. I thought. But I knew that if I didn't go she'd go by herself. "ok I'll go." I said with a sigh. "But don't go too high Flame, I don't want us getting blown away." I said sternly to the orange feline.

She nodded and I handed natsu my bag as Flame grabbed the back of my shirt and we lifted off the ground. I let out a small yelp as the wind almost lifted my skirt so I hastily pushed it back down closing my eyes as the ground seemed to drop from under us. I felt flame struggle a little as the wind lashed past us but she swiftly straightened herself. I saw Natsu was yelling something at us but the loud wind quickly over powered his voice.

"We can't hear you!" I yelled down to him motioning to my ears.

Lucy said something to happy and he flew up to us. I could see that he also struggled with the wind as it blew aggressively against his wings. "We said do you see anything?" Happy asked and then looked down. "Oh wow I guess not. I can hardly see Natsu."

"c-can we go back down its f-freezing up here." Flame said shivering from the cold wind.

Happy nodded and we followed him down to the two figures waiting for us. As we landed flame rapidly flew into my arms and snuggled in to try and get warmer. I hugged her to my chest and walked up to natsu and Lucy.

"See anything?" Lucy asked as Natsu handed my bag back and I pulled out my extra sweater.

"No nothing, we could hardly even see you guys from up there" I said wrapping the sweater around both me and flame.

"Dang it!" Lucy exclaimed obviously frustrated. "I really thought that would work." She sounded disappointed.

We were all quiet for a moment then Natsu broke the silence. "Lets keep looking" He said continuing to walk calling Macao's name. We walked up the mountain, all of us calling for Macao.

"Hey Y/N" Lucy said. "do you by any chance have another jacket?" she asked me

"No, sorry. I only brought this one" I said shaking my head.

Lucy frowned slightly but then smiled. "oh I have an idea." she said excitedly.

"If its me flying up there again I'm not doing it" Flame said stubbornly. "I still can't feel my ears!" she said rubbing her big orange and black ears with a shiver.

Lucy shook her head and took out some keys that were wrapped in a cute leather case. The case contained six keys. Four of them were silver and the other three were gold. She pulled out one of the silver ones and held it out in front of her. The key looked like it had... a clock? There was a small clock on the end of the key.

Flame and I stared at her in confusion.

"Open gate of the clock constellation!" She chanted as she moved the key in a cross "Horologium!" she said.

The key started glowing and a magic circle appeared in front of her. Out of the magic circle appeared a giant... clock? I was so confused. A giant grandfather clock appeared in the center of the circle. It had a weird looking face with the hands looking like a mustache. But other than the hands on the clock face, it had actual hands and legs coming out of it. Lucy walked to the clock, opened the cabinet and stepped inside.

She started talking but we couldn't hear her at all.

"We can't hear you!" Flame and happy said at the same time.

" 'I am staying in here until we are off this mountain.' She says stubbornly." The clock tells us "Although miss Lucy I don't know if our timer will last that long." Horologium said.

"Macao!" Natsu called for the millionth time.

It feels like we've been looking for hours and we still haven't found him.

"Maybe he went down the mountain right when we got here or something." Flame said hopefully, flying down from her spot above me.

"No" natsu said "I just know he's here." he had a determined look and started to call out for Macao again

Just then a big Mountain Vulcan jumped down in front of us making us all jump. The Vulcan had a creepy looking smile and was looking straight at me and Lucy. Natsu and Happy were still far ahead of us and all of the sudden, the Vulcan started to charge at us.
