chapter twenty one- a weird request

On our way to our client's house we took a carriage, and once again, I am physically dying. So is Natsu which I'd say is karma for him but this is a normal thing for the both of us.

"Can I get you anything master?" Lucy teased Natsu with a giggle.

"Kill meee....."

"I'll do that for you for making me wear this thing, Just as soon as the world stops spinning." I told him sticking my head out the window. "Also why am I wearing this? I'm not even blond." For some reason Natsu and Happy made me wear a maid costume too.

Natsu chuckled slightly. "I don't know, I just thought it would be funny."

"So why'd you decide to put me on your team?" Lucy asked.

"You just seemed nice." Natsu replied. I was kinda surprised that he actually complemented someone. "But your just so weird."

Aaannnd there it was.

"Says the guy who eats fire and has a talking, flying cat." Flame snickered at him.

After some torture in the carriage we got to our destination at the small town of Shirotsume. stretching my legs and finally felling better after hours of motion sickness, we walked towards our client's house.

I nervously fidgeted with the short skirt, not used to wearing stuff like this and feeling people eyeing me. "Why do I have to wear this again?"

"Because, it would be weird to only have one of you in a dress." Natsu said.

"Don't worry you look fine." Lucy said trying to make me feel better.

Natsu looked like he was still a little bit sick. "Hey Nat, you ok?" I asked him concerned.

"Ya, I'm fine, I'm just starving. Can we please stop to get something to eat?"

"If you can eat fire why don't you just make some fire for you to eat?" Lucy asked.

Natsu and I looked at her confused. "If I could eat my fire then why don't you eat your cow or plue or that crab thing you told us about?" He answered her.

"What?!? Why would I do that?" She asked him again.

"Well its kinda the same." I said. "We can't eat anything we make with our own magic."

"Ya well anyways lets stop here to eat!" Natsu said excitedly pointing to a restaurant. I didn't notice before but I was also hungry so I nodded and started to follow natsu to the restaurant

After a while, Lucy joined us and we made our way to our client's house. As we walked towards the house I was looking down nervously at my feet. The butterflies were coming again at the thought of meeting a new person. I pulled at my dress, not knowing if I should pull it up or down because of the way it was cut.

"Stop fighting you're fine!" Flame said patting my head. "Plus if you keep moving I'm gonna fall off." She was sitting on my head like she usually does, playing with my hair.

"You know its kinda adorable how you sit on her head like that." Lucy commented.

I knew how Flame would react when Lucy called her 'adorable'. She looked at Lucy with an annoyed look. "Call me adorable and I'll scratch you."

I giggled a little at how non-threatening that was because of how undersized she was.

She smacked me on the head. "Don't you laugh!"

"Ok! Ok! I'm sorry!" I said through giggles. I looked up at the house in front of us. Actually I wouldn't even call it a house. It was more like a mansion. Now I can see why the person who hired us was paying so much.

The mansion had tan painted walls with brown and red window shutters. The roof was a pretty teal color and the door was green. In the front there were bushes and flowers and on either side of the house there was a pine tree. We knocked on the door and waited a bit before a beautiful woman with brown hair came to greet us.

"Hey we're here about the job request for the book stealing job." Lucy said to the woman.

"Ah yes you must be those wizards from fairytail am I right?" She greeted us with a smile. "Please come in."

She led us down the hall to a room where we were met with a kind looking older man. He had grey hair and a mustache and was wearing a black tuxedo with a red tie. The woman motioned for us to sit down on the couch in front of us so we did.

"Hello thank you so much for coming." The older man said. "My name is Kaby Melón I am delighted to meet you."

What kind of a name is Melon? I thought to myself.

"His name is Melon!" Natsu whispered to Happy "That sound so delicious." He said but he was never good at whispering so it was obvious that Kaby heard him.

"Hey don't be rude!" Lucy and I said in unison as I smacked him on the head.

Kaby laughed. "Its alright I get that a lot. Now lets get straight to business shall we? The job you were hired to do is to steal a book called daybreak from a man named duke everlue and burn it."

(Everlue is pronounced Ever-loo)

"Thats no problem for us" Natsu said making a small fire on the tip of his finger. "We could burn the whole house down if you want!" He joked.

"I am not going to jail for arson Natsu!" Lucy said to him

"Just burning the book is fine." Kaby chuckled. "Once you do that you will be paid 2 million jewel."

Did he say 2 million?!?

"2 million?" We all said in shocked sync.

I turned to natsu. "I thought you said it was only 200 thousand."

"It was but we raised the price. Thats how important it is to me that you get this job done. I thought you were aware of the increase in jewel."

"Wow 2 million split four ways," Natsu said in amazement. "Geez I can't even do that math!"

"Its half a million each." I said still processing the insane amount.

"Mind if I ask," Lucy says curiously. "why did you change the amount?"

"Who cares! Money is money!" Natsu said selfishly.

Kaby laughs again but then his face turns serious. "Thats just how much this job means to me. also Duke Everlue is a dirty old man who you have to be careful with. He may not the the smartest but he's still dangerous."

"Don't worry about us!" Natsu said confidently. "We could handle anything!"

"Except trains..." I said under my breath. I heard Lucy and Flame muffle a giggle.

With that, Kaby gave us all the extra information we needed and sent us on our way with a wish of good luck. We went on our way to the duke everlue's mansion to steal the book!
