"You said that would be fun, Michael." Ariana declares as we both walk out of the exit for some roller coaster.
"It was."
"What? That's what you call fun? More like a death trap." She mutters.
I laugh at her dramatic self and glimpse at her, I really don't deserve to be standing here by Ariana's side but I'm very glad she thinks I do.
I guess I got too caught up in admiring her because the next thing I know, a clown is in my face with a chainsaw.
I might have let out the loudest scream ever and fell backwards.
The creepy character pulls off the mask and winces.
"Sorry, dude." The man says before he slides it right back on, running away and scaring some other people.
Suddenly, I hear a bizarre amount of laughter. I look to my left and see Ariana, practically on the ground, laughing her butt off.
I roll my eyes and jerk myself up, wiping off my clothes. I look in her direction and she's still laughing just as hard as she was.
She gets up, not long after me and I can tell she's holding in more giggles.
"Michael, you should have heard yourself scream. Oh my god, you sounded like Janet." That comment did irk me, I have to admit, but only because I'm very sensitive.
I shake my head and sigh, letting a few seconds pass by.
"What even was that guy's problem?" I utter while walking forward, Ariana following behind.
"Halloween, silly. It's next week." She answers.
My eye brows furrow. "It is?"
She nods and trails behind me, I notice our feet are moving in the same motion. It's satisfying.
"You haven't ever gone trick or treating, am I right?" She inquires.
"Nope. I've always wanted to though, looking out the window and seeing the kids in different costumes, going door to door, it looks so fun."
"Trust me, it's not that great once you do it every year."
"Well, I've never tried it. I'd like to do it at least once." I tell her while glancing up at the beautiful night sky.
"I'll take you someday."
"You will, huh?" I snake my arm around her waist, pulling her closer to me.
"Yup."
Coincidentally, my feet stop at my favourite ride ever. The Ferris wheel.
My eyes widen at the giant circular ride and I intertwine our fingers.
"Come on, we gotta go on." She looks super uneasy and nervous.
"Michael, I hate heights. Did that last ride not show you?"
I pull out my best puppy dog eyes.
"Please, for me." She takes a couple seconds to think and then groans.
"Fine." Her tone stern but there's still humour in there.
"Yay!" I cheer and drag her towards the line.
I'm awfully surprised that not many people have noticed me yet, there's still been the odd couple or two but for the most part, there hasn't been a chaotic crowd and I hope it'll stay that way for the rest of the night.
