Ariana

"So, how's your husband treating you? Geez, it feels weird to even say that." I ask as I take a spoonful of fruit salad.

"He's treating me..." Janet searches for a word as she sips down her tea. "Fine."

I lower my head and raise my eyebrows. "You don't seem that interested in him."

"I'm really not. I feel like I was forced into this marriage with someone I barely know. Not only that, but he's a recovering coke addict, though I think he's still secretly taking it." She spits out like word vomit.

"That sounds awful, why not just divorce him?"

"Because my parents think he's 'good for me'. Let me just tell you that living at Hayvenhurst with him, my parents AND my siblings is living hell."

"Come on, it can't be that bad." I laugh at her dramatics.

"No it is, I think I need to move out soon." She says while eating her scone. "Anyway, what's up with you and Michael?" She questions.

"We're the best we've ever been I think. I just don't know if he truly knows how much I love him."

Janet's eyes burst open. "I think it's quite the opposite way, I've never seen Michael so happy with someone ever, Ariana. You're exactly what he needs."

Her words engrave in my mind. "You really think so?"

"I know so." Her lips turn thin. "It honestly makes me a bit jealous, I would only wish to find a connection with someone like that."

My heart pangs for Janet and I instantly comfort her.

"Hey, you'll find that special someone someday and who knows? Maybe you'll fall in love with James?"

"Never say that again." She shakes her head profusely. I laugh in response to her antics and continue eating my chocolate chip cookie.

Michael

"Diana, this is never happening again." I quickly slide out of her bed and throw my pullover sweater back on, trying to get out of here as fast as I can.

"Oh, come on. You'll be back here tomorrow." Her soft yet raspy voice replies.

"No! There will be no tomorrow, I just ruined the best thing I had going for me by sleeping with you."

She suddenly looks offended.

"Don't be stupid, Michael. You need someone mature who can guide you through life, Adrianna-"

"Ariana." I correct her.

"Ariana, can't do that for you. Plus, can she even make you feel as good as I make you feel?" She says while inching closer to me.

I immediately back up. "Yes, Diana. She actually can make me feel as good as you do, even better with just her presence alone. That's something you can't do at all."

She scoffs and gets back into her bed.

"Fine, be like that. But when you finally realize who's right for you, I won't be here."
