Mavis' POV
"You sure you will be going to the event? Baka hindi mo kayanin," sabi ni Ruxinaire habang tinutulungan ako na itali ang dress ko.

"I'm sure, Rux," sabi ko at saka napabuntong-hininga.

"Mama! Mama!" Napalingon ako sa gilid ko at napangiti nang makita ang magandang mukha ng aking anak. Kaagad ko siyang kinarga nang makalapit siya. "Mama! Mama, is May-May beautiful?"

Natawa ako. "Yes, May-May's beautiful," I said then kissed her forehead at ibiniba na siya.

"Mama, this suit is really itchy. Should I just wear the long turtle neck instead?" Napatingin ako sa isa ko pang anak. Lumapit ako sa kanya at inayos ang tie at blazer na suot niya nang matapos na ni Ruxinaire ang pagtali ng tali sa likod ng dress ko. "Mare, you look absolutely stunning in your tuxedo. Please wear it for Mama?"

He sighed. "Fine. If you say I'm absolutely stunning in this, I would wear it. Just don't say I'm beautiful like Mayra." Napangiwi siya. "I'm not a girl."

Napatawa ako sa kanya. "No, every person is beautiful and boys are also beautiful. Not just girls. They're beautiful as a person and what they wear." Ngumiti ako sa kanya at inayos ang kanyang buhok. "Salamat, Mare, and you wear that. You really look good in it."

Mare smiled. "Thanks, Mama. You're very beautiful as well."

"Oh, you think?" I stood up and twirled around. "Your Tito Rux picked it for me."

Natawa naman si Rux habang nakasandal sa counter at nakahalukipkip. "Sa ilang taon ba namang kasama mo ako lagi sa pagsha-shopping ng damit, I know every clothes that fit you."

I looked over at him and smiled. "Thanks for this."

"You're welcome, princess."

"Hey, I am a princess too!" sigaw ni Mayra habang nakataas ang kanyang kamay. Ngumuso siya. "And Mama, Mama! I want hugs too! Hugs!"

Instead of me, Mare went over to her and hugged her. Mayra's eyes lightened up and hugged her brother back while smiling. I smiled as I am watching them. 

"So, are you really sure you want to do this, Mavis?"

Napalingon ako sa aking likod at nakita kong nakatingin ng seryoso sa akin si Ruxinaire. And I did not mention that he's absolutely very handsome in his black tuxedo and turtleneck. 

"Rux," I called his name with tiredness in my voice. "Ilang beses ko bang uulitin? I'm ready for this."

"I'm just worried you might get affected again."

Sinamaan ko siya ng tingin at binigyan ng maliit na ngiti. "And when was the last time I was affected?"

He nudged his head to the left as he thinks. "When you went over to their company to deliver the book?"

I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "I was only shocked at that time. I wasn't affected."

He shrugged his shoulders. "Okay." Tinaas niya ang kanyang dalawang kamay bilang pag-surrender. "I won't fight you. You're always right."

I chuckled and rolled my eyes again before walking towards him and fixing his blazer. "Huwag kang masyadong mag-alala. Remember? You're here with me. You're my bodyguard. And I have my two lovely kids. They'll protect me."

Ruxinaire sighed and smiled. He put one hand on the back of my head and kissed my forehead. "Just stay safe, M'lady. Remember, I'm jonly one call away."
