Chapter Sixteen: that girl (ambush)

Mare's POV
"So, is the plan successful yet?" I asked as I dived into my meal.

Sakura nodded and swirl the fork on the spaghetti. "Well, I did convince her to be my friend but I still haven't asked her about her life in the Furrer Mansion though."

I sip through my orange juice and eat the spaghetti before talking again. "Well, I think we should do more than that I guess. Convince her maybe?"

She glared at me. "On what again?"

"Ask her about her mother without mentioning our real mother," I replied.

She sighed as she looked at me boringly. "Well, that's kind of hard. I've always know that your mother is Auntie Mavis so I think it would be kinda difficult for me not to mention her name but..." She shrugged her shoulders. "I think I could pull it off. Count it on me."

I smiled at her comment. "Thank you."

"You're welcome. Among both of us, I am the only one who could act well with lies spitting out of my mouth, but you know it's kinda hard, right? It's Mayra we're talking about."

"I understand. If I would act by now while I'm with Mayra, I'm sure I could do a worse act than you."

She chuckled. "True, because you're suck at acting."

"Hey! I could act too!"

"But Mayra is more talented in acting than you, idiot."

I glared at her and stick my tongue out of her before sipping on my orange juice again. Well, that's true though, that Mayra was more talented in acting more than me.

"So, where do we start the plan?" she asked.

"Meet me at the rooftop after classes. We'll ask Mayra there," I said and stood up. "I need to do something. Excuse me."

I go out of the canteen and turned to the hallway where our room was but then, I stopped midway when I saw Mayra standing inside. I hid in the corner of the door and looked at her as she was holding a cellphone to her ear. Her face is so serious. I wonder who is the caller.

I listened to the conversation as soon as she talks. "I've been seeing no signs of suspicious person you told me to find, Mom. Are you sure there's someone?" She was silent for a few minutes. "Look, Mom, if you want to find someone, use your companions there or Dad's companions. Maybe they could help you. There's no Mare Furrer named here, no one has been registered on that name. I checked the files with the dean and the principal but there's no sign of Mare Furrer here." She rolled her eyes. "Yea, yeah, right. Don't use me. No. I will not going to follow you! I'll do whatever I want, not yours, alright? Bye!" And then, she ended the call.

Mayra's POV
As I ended the call, I felt a presence in my side. I looked at that direction and saw nothing but the opened door of the room. I sighed as I put back my phone to my pocket.

"I think I'm just imagining things," I said and walked towards the door.

My mind immediately flew to the time when I saw the boy in the store.

"Mare... huh?" I stopped walking. "That name is familiar..."

I snapped out of my thoughts and I began to become alert when I felt a pressure beside me.

"Hey, hey. Don't need to look at me like that." It was a boy that looks terrified by my look at him.

"What are you doing here?" I asked him as I still looked at him with the same expression.
