Chapter Twenty: steal

Mavis' POV
"Huh?! Why can't I go to school?!" sigaw ni Mare sa amin nang makalapit kaming pareho ni Flare sa kanya.

Hinarang siya nina Jade at Jane sa main door nang lalabas na sana siya para pumasok sa kanyang eskwela.

"What is this, Mama?" galit na tanong niya. "If this is another reason for me to train, well, sorry but I won't oblige you for once."

"Mare, delikado ang buhay ko," anunsyo ko sa kanya na ikinatigil niya. 

"W-What do you mean, Mama?" nagtatakang tanong ni Mare. His eyebrows furrowed in curiosity but the glint of his eyes are shouting worries. "Is there something I did not know here?"

Parehas kaming hindi sumagot ni Flare sa kanyang katanungan. Napatingin kami sa isa't isa. 

"Flare... Sasabihin ba natin?"

He shrugged off his shoulders. "He needs to know," sagot niya sa akin.

I sighed heavily as I looked at Mare with a sad smile on my lips. "Mare, Castell Organization is targetting me and I think they're doing this to steal me from the Furrer Mafia."

He frowned. "Steal? What do you mean by 'steal', Mama?"

"Between the two organizations, Mavis has the highest power to defeat one organization down or even millions, evidenced by her history of kills when she was little," pagpapaliwanag ni Flare kay Mare at pinagkrus ang kanyang mga braso. "As much as we want you to continue studying, we've got no choice but to stop you temporarily. You are our child. It's possible the Castell Organization will hold that as a chance to use you as bait and use you for threat so that Mavis could join them easily."

"So, you mean Mama is the strongest among the two organizations? But she is our Queen in the mafia."

"Exactly," ani Flare. "She is the Queen of the Furrer Mafia, the Lady Hera of all but I don't think she can protect herself from this danger made by that damn organization of Olivia."

"Then, protect her! We have all the Protectors, Assassins, and enough Minor Reapers to protect her."

"Mare, that's not enough," malungkot kong sambit sa kanya. "Hindi kakayanin ng mga Minor Reapers na protektahan ako lalo na't may mga bago pa lang at kailangan pang i-train.  Protectors and Assassins are not also enough. We can't risk your lives in danger lalo na't mga anak kayo ng mga High Reapers."

"So, what are you planning? Planning something but can't execute it properly?" Mare scoffed. "Mama, Papa, if Lady Hera is at stake here, all of our lives are also at risk! We can't just say that they can't protect you!" Napatigil kami sa sinabi niya. "Mama, I needed to protect you. Assassins and Protectors can protect you. I'm just going to find some Minor Reapers who are willing to be your protector too. I'll also call Sakura for help."

"Mare, huwag mong idamay dito si Sakura--"

"She can do it," sabi niya na ikinagulat ko. I stared at his eyes. It held hope and determination to protect and rather, save me from the starting chaos. Napabuntong-hininga ako.

He still hasn't changed. Stubborn as always, wanting to get everything he wants, and wanting to protect me at any cost whether it is that serious or not.

"I don't want Mama to fight her own family so as much as possible, I want to protect her and don't ever think that it is wrong. I may just be fifteen years old but I can strategize on my own. This is everybody's business now so I'm also sticking to it. Don't stop me."

Lumampas siya sa amin at umakyat sa kung saan man siya pupunta. 

Biglang akong kinabahan sa mga sinabi niya. Magbabago na ang lahat kapag nagsimula na ang laban laban sa dalawang magkagalit na organisasyon at ako pa ang pinag-aagawan nila.
