Chapter Nineteen: evil plan (Part One)
Mare's POV
At five forty-five in the afternoon, Mama suddenly came home from work. Of course, she was been drove home by Tito Rux who gladly greeted me with a smile but I don't have time for his smile."Sorry. You can't come in," I said as Mama came into the main door. I blocked Tito Rux's way after that.
His smile still hasn't faded but I knew, by the way, his face slightly scrunched that he is curious. "Why can't I go in, Mare? Your Mama invited me to dinner."
"I told Mama to not entertain anyone this afternoon after she got home from work which means you can't go in," I said and looked at her coldly. "You can't interfere with us at any cost, even with noises."
This time, Tito Rux's bright smile faded and that changed into a frown. "What's the matter, Mare?" he asked worriedly. His eyes said it all but there's also a hint of pure curiosity in it. "Did something happen to you and Mavis when you were in Flare's company?"
"Nothing much," I replied. "Just don't interfere with us for a moment. We'll discuss something important to each other which others couldn't know. Bye then."
Then, I slammed the door closed in his face.
"You shouldn't have done that, Mare." I looked at Mama who was removing her I.D. from her neck. She puts it down on the couch with her bag.
"If I don't do it, he will interfere with us at any cost, Mama, and I don't want him to hear any of our discussions from start to end," I replied and plopped myself down on the couch across Mama.
She sat on the couch across mine beside her bag. "I know, but he's still your Tito Rux, Mare, and my boyfriend."
"And that's what will be talking about Mama. About your decision between your boyfriend and your real love." I felt Mama stilled on her seat. Up until now, she still couldn't decide after many hours had passed. Well, I guess I should help her more then. "Let's start."
Mama's head went down. I could feel her uncertainty and stress while thinking so hard about the decision she will make. The twenty-four hours were really short.
"I don't know, Mare," she replied as she puts her hand to her head. "I can't leave Ruxinaire, he'll be in pain but I can't also choose him because of Mayra and you."
She's right in a certain way. Mama could not be able to make a risky decision. If she leaves Tito Ruxinaire, he will be in demise and possibly go back to that Olivia, aching for revenge to just mend his broken heart. On the other hand, if she will go to Papa and live happily with us, Olivia will attack us and destroy our family.
Both paths will have grave conclusions that might lead to a fight with nowhere to return. And Mama might also think of that. But she needs to decide now. Or else, her heart will suffer.
"Mama, I don't wanna force you," I said and she looked at me with widened eyes. "The truth is, I just want to help you while you make your decision. Thinking of it was stressing you out, isn't it? So I told you to make no one interfere with us in this conversation because I wanted you to think alone and I'm the only one who supports you while making it."
"Mare..."
"Mama, I don't want you to overthink but let me tell you this," I continued talking. "I'm always here for you. You saw me growing up. You knew what I want and what I want is to make our lives happier and to live with it in a better place. But, Mama, can you please consider Mayra's feelings?"
She seemed stilled by my sudden statement. "M-Mayra's feelings?"
"Remember the day she locked herself up in our room and I'm the only one who could go in?" I asked her. She nodded. "She's crying and in pain, outside and inside. I could see it. It was still clear in my mind. That moment where I first hear her beg for our family to be complete..."
