Chapter V

It was fine day for the recruits that morning, everyone is looking forward to be enlisted on the branch they chose, gratified that they finally graduated. Some of them changed their mind, realizing that it is better to die in honor than to be confined inside the walls doing nothing.

They are not persuaded, it's just that, they undergone through a deep self-realization after hearing a considerable lecture from an unexpected person to talk something like that.

Everyone is confident about the change they ought to give to humanity. They are not even scared when they offered their lives, none of them are shaking, chin up and valiant.

They set in their mind that all of them are the new hope, the one who will protect the mankind at all cost. Assured in their decision and leaving no question, they will die for they are soldiers.

But as the Colossus Titan appeared once again, not only the wall have been destroyed, as well as the built aplomb and bravery of the new batch of warriors.

Lion's share of recruits are shaking from fear, they cannot think properly as their courage are slowly disappearing. They're panicking, backing away and leisurely losing their own sanity as the stomach churning image of people getting eaten, more likely they think of themselves.

They are losing hopes again.

"You recruits are fine soldiers who have managed to graduate! We anticipate your contribution to this operation!"

But Y/n is different, if the other soldiers are quickly devoured from their own fears, Y/n is growing more power within herself, eager to fight not just for her life but for the humanity as a whole.

She is a tigress possessing no fear but a dauntless woman roaring from determination that this will be a fight where the humanity wins. She is a soldier not only basing from her uniform nor her years of drill to be called one, Y/n L/n is a soldier for that what her eyes is telling to the world and her purpose to fight.

She is not like them.

She will never be a coward.

"Y/n!" Mikasa called as she run towards the girl. Mikasa is still not wearing any gear but it doesn't mean she is not ready.

"Come on, put your gear on. Eren is comforting Armin, they will be fine."

Mikasa nodded as they fix everything they needed. They spotted Eren and Armin, the blonde boy is trembling while filling his gas tanks, he cannot even concentrate anymore.

"Armin! Calm down. Things are different now. Mankind won't lose to the Titans anymore!" Said Eren waking the scared Armin.

"Sorry. I'm fine."

"Armin, we can do this don't panic. Remember to use your intelligence when you know you are lacking in strength. We will survive to this, don't worry." Enlightened Y/n helping him to properly fill his gas tanks.

"You know that Titans are not into Cinnamon Rolls."

Armin patted Y/n's shoulder smiling a little, at least he has calmed down. Eren stood and headed towards Mikasa, then they walked away from them to get a gear for Eren.

"Y/n everything will be fine right?" Armin asked again. Y/n nodded taking his cold hands and placing it to where his heart is located. "What does your heart tells you Armin?"

"I- I want to protect the mankind."

"Then do it and stay alive."

"Now then, split up into your respective squads as you did in training! Under the command of the Garrison, you'll carry out supply support, intelligence, communication, Titan-clean up, and so forth! The Garrison's interception squad will take the vanguard section! The training Corps under our command will take the guard section! The Garrison's elite squad will take the rear guard section! Note that, according to reports, the vanguard squad has already been wiped out! The outer gate has been breached, and the Titans have invaded! Put simply, we're in a situation where the Armored Titan could appear at any moment and break in the inner gate!"
