Meet Chuck and more Answers

"Horrible" I answered, making Newt laugh

"Why was it so horrible?" He asked

"Have you ever been in that hut? It smells like death and the animals smell like throw up and I had to feed all of them." I said

"Well good thing you'll never have to go in that bloody hut again" he said.

"How do you know that?" I asked

"It's the kind of perks a shank gets by being second in command" Newt said and winked. I started to laugh, maybe it was Newts comment or the fact he looked so cute when he winked.

"Oh well don't I wish I was second in bloody command" I said doing my best to mock his accent.

"Okay Belle" he said trying not to smile. "How about I go get some sandwiches?" He asked standing up.

"Sure" I said and smiled.

"You have a really pretty smile" newt said and walked away. I could feel my cheeks getting hot.

When Newt brought back the sandwiches we sat there for the rest of lunch and talked. We talked about the glade, people in the glade, but nothing in our conversation was stressful.

A bell rang, signaling to everyone that lunch is over. "What are you doing the rest of the day?" I asked newt as we walked to put our dishes away.

"Probably working in the fields with Zart. Tends to help keep my mind off things." He said.

"Gotcha" I said.

"Do you need help finding your way to the builders?" He asked me.

"I'll figure it out. Or maybe I won't and then I'll never have to be a builder." I said and turned to walk away.

"Good that" I heard him say behind me

I saw a long building with the door open, it kind of looks like it's in the middle of being build, so I walked over to it. Inside, I realized right away that this was the bathroom. A little boy was in there, cleaning. The idea make me shiver and want to throw up. "Why did they stick you with this horrible job?" I asked and the boy turned around. He is a little chubby and has curly brown hair, he looks to maybe be around 12 years old, definitely the youngest boy I've seen here.

"Oh um I'm a slopper, it's just what we do" he said. He looked sad about his job, so I didn't ask about it again.

"Well I'm Annabelle" I said and smiled.

"I'm Chuck" he said and smiled back to me, his smile warms my heart.

"Nice to meet you chuck, do you happen to know where the builders are?" I asked him.

"Yeah let me show you." He said and steered to walk. I followed him across the glade and he talked the whole time. I don't think a lot of people talk to him. "Here we are" he said and pointed to a shack that had boys building around it.

Gally walked up to me "where have you been shank?" His tone startled me.

"I got lost" I said

"Well then shuckface get to work" he said and walked away. Geez wonder what happened to him.

Being a builder was hard, all afternoon I had to lift heavy wood or hold it in place or whatever. All I know is my back is killing me now.

"Alright that's all for today" Gally finally yelled. The dinner bell hadn't rung yet, so I went and sat under a tree.

Chuck found me and started to talk my ear off again, he is really cute but can be a little annoying. But I sat and listened. Dinner came around and newt never showed, so I just stayed with chuck. The two of us talked until the bell rang signaling for bed.
