Surprise

The girl laid there, motionless as if she had never said a word. Murmers erupted throughout the crowd of boys, and some boys got her limp body out of the box.

Jeff and I carried her back to the homestead, and had enough time to get her laying in a bed before Minho, Thomas and Newt came crashing into the room. "What's wrong with her?" Thomas asked

"We aren't sure" Jeff said

Minho looked to Thomas then back at me "I get the feeling I'm not going to like her" he said

"Judging her right off the bat I see?" I asked and laughed.

"Newt what does the note mean?" Thomas asked

"I'm not sure" he said, eyeing the girl.

"If the box never comes back up how long do you think we can last?" Jeff asked

"No one said that, let's not jump to any conclusions" Newt tried to say calmly

"Has the box gone back down?" I asked

"Nope" a voice said at the door and we turned to see Gally "I'm sure the greenie is the reason why." I sighed and nodded "and I'm betting one you you two freaks recognizes her. If not both of you."

I twisted my face in confusion, but Thomas answered "Annabelle and I aren't freaks"

Oh, my stomach turned, he was referring to me as the freak. So much for not being on Gally's bad side. "Then how come you showed up a week apart? Huh? And ever since you showed up strange things have been happening like Ben getting stung in daylight. Then Alby, and now the girl. Something is happening and you two are the cause of it"

"I um-" I stuttered

"Gally they haven't done anything wrong" Minho said and Gally rolled his eyes and stormed out of the room.

"Enough of this, Belle lets go get dinner" Newt said

"Okay" I said

"Can I come get dinner?" Thomas asked

"Oh me too" Minho added

Newt rolled his eyes and laughed "slim it you two"

Thomas laughed and left the room, Minho trailing behind. I looked at Jeff and he nodded, "Go ahead. We are all good here, Clint is with Alby and I will be here with the sleeping Greenie" Jeff said.

"Alright thanks" I said and left behind Newt

"How was your day love?" He asked

"Strange" I said and looked over at him "do you think we are going to die since the box isn't ever going back down?" I asked

"We have plenty of supplies for now, and no one said the box is never going to go back down." He said

"But what-" I started but he stopped me

"Try to forget about it. We will take it al day by day" he said and gave me a grin as he pulled me by my wrist towards the deadheads.

"I thought we were getting dinner?" I asked him

"We are" he said and walked over to a huge tree with many low hanging branches. The tree looked over the whole glade, which looked quite incredible with the setting sun. I looked back to the tree and noticed a blanket and food set up on one of the bigger branches.

"You set this up?" I questioned

"Yes, I thought I could bring my girlfriend out on a date, even being stuck in a maze."

I smiled when he called me his girlfriend. "It looks amazing"

"Come on" he took me by the hand and led me up some of the branches to get to the one with our picnic.

"Did Thomas and Minho know about this?" I asked as we started to eat.

"Yes that's why they were being shuck heads back at homestead" he said and I laughed

"They are like two peas in a pod" I said

"You have no idea" he said and laughed

I looked over at him, "what do you mean?" I questioned

"That's for them to tell you" he said and threw his hands up

I gasped "that's no fun, you have to tell me now" I said

"Sorry I signed a contract" he said and I pouted. "Come on Belle don't be upset" he said and kissed my cheek.

"Fine" I sighed sarcastically

"There we go" he smiled and soon the bells rang out, signaling its time to go back.

"I don't want to go back" I said

Newt smiled "did you like it?"

"Yes it was so pretty" I paused "especially for a date in a graveyard"

"We weren't in the bloody graveyard, we were just near it" he said

"Mhmm whatever you say" I said elbowing him in the side.

He laughed "if we had been using the headstones as plates, that would have been in the graveyard"

"That's gross" I laughed as we made our way back into the homestead

"Yeah and-" Minho and Thomas were standing at the door talking, but stopped at the sight of us.

"How was your daaate?" Minho asked drawing out the word date.

"Lovely" I said and smiled

"You guys are gross" Thomas said and Newt snickered beside me

"Oh yeah I think you guys have something to tell me?" I asked

Minho and Thomas looked at each other then ran off in directions. I laughed "I'll find out in the morning"

Newt just shook his head and led us back to the room.
