Slammer

Newt loves me? Newt loves me. And I'm completely in love with him too. "And I love you Newt" I said and he smiled "even if you are throwing me in the slammer"

"That's not fair. That was the easiest punishment I could give you, and you'll be with Tommy" He said

"I see whose side you're on" I said just to give him a heard time.

"You know that's not true love." He said and touched my cheek

"At least Thomas can keep me warm" I said

"Thomas is dating Minho so HE can keep you warm... For tonight" he said "and you can take my sweatshirt" he said referring to the light long sleeve cream hooded shirt he always wears.

"That will be necessary" I said, because it looks so comfortable, and he pulled it over his head and handed it to me, leaving him in a brown undershirt.

I pulled of my shirt and put his on. "Alright I'm going to go find Thomas" I said

I walked out into the glade and saw Thomas talking to Jeff. They started walking towards the homestead and so I waited for them. "What's going on?" I asked and Thomas shrugged

"The girl has said Thomas' name in her sleep so I'm taking him to visit her, unless you want to?" Jeff told me

"I'll take him" I said and Thomas continued walking with me. "So you have a mysterious lover?" I winked

"Please whatever you do, do not tell Minho." He said

"I won't" I put my hands up and laughed. We walked into the sleeping girls room and stood by the bed. "So do you recognize her?" I asked

"I'm not sure" he said and continued to stare at her.

"Hello girl. This is Thomas" I said and elbowed him.

Suddenly Thomas' face went pale "Thomas? Are you okay?" I asked but he didn't answer. "Thomas" I said and shook him

He suddenly looked to join reality again. "Let's get out of here. Now." He said and walked out. I followed behind him and had to run to keep up

"What is wrong with you?" I asked him

"She talked to me" is all he said

"Who talked to you?" I asked

"The girl. The asleep girl talked to me, inside my head" he said

"Well did she say anything important?" I asked

"The point is she talked to me" he yelled

"I get it" I said quietly And we were greeted by Alby

"You two ready to go to the slammer?" He asked

"Yeah" I said without looking at Thomas. He will probably complain about not getting dinner.

We walked to the cell and climbed down into the hole and Alby locked it up.

"I didn't mean to yell at you" Thomas said when Alby walked away

"It's fine" I said

"It just really creeped me out is all" he said and I nodded. The little room is made of dirt, and is only wide enough for a boy to lay down.

"I can't believe you didn't get us dinner though" I said

"Don't even get me started Annabelle. That's where I thought we were going and you told Alby, 'hey lock us up now'" he mocked me

"I don't sound like that" I told him and he laughed

"To me you do" he said and I rolled my eyes

I heard the doors close and the bells ring out as the sky got dark. "They could have at least given us a blanket or a pillow" Thomas complained, as he has done the whole time now.

"It is very chilly" I said agreeing with him.

"Who is there?" Thomas spoke louder than he had been

"What?" I asked and he signaled for me to be quiet.

I heard the footsteps now too, getting closer to us. "We just thought you shanks may want dinner" I recognized Minho's voice

"Pretty sure the whole world knows Thomas does" I yelled back at Minho

Minho came into view and Thomas and I went and stood by the door/ window thingy keeping us in here. "Here" Minho said and passed a loaf of bread into the slammer.

"Thanks" Thomas said

"Anything for you" Minho said and smiled

"Awe" I said and smiled

"Newt is bringing you guys a blanket since it's freezing out here" Minho told me

"Really didn't notice" Thomas shot him a playful glare.

"Well it would be colder out in the maze if it weren't for newt and I" Minho shot back

"You're right Annabelle would be freezing I the maze right now if neither one of you had opened your mouths" Thomas said

"Hey. That hurt" I said to Thomas who just laughed

"How are you guys?" Newt asked as he sat down next to Minho

"Cold and hungry" Thomas said

"Pretty much" I said

"Here's a blanket. It's bloody freezing out here" newt handed me the blanket, which is cold as well

"Thanks guys" I smiled And Thomas just continued today the bread

"Save some for Annabelle" Minho said I laughed.

"We need to go Minho" newt said and they both got up. "We will come get you in the morning as soon as we can" they walked away and Thomas and I were left alone in the faint light of the lantern outside the door.

"Here eat" Thomas said and broke off some of the load for me. We ate in silence until it was all gone.

"Are you going to share the blanket?" Thomas asked and I looked down at the blanket still folded in my lap as newt had given it me.

"No. You wanted me to die in the maze tonight by myself" I told him

"You know I was kidding" he said and I shook my head, knowing he was kidding. "Come on Annabelle, You're my best friend, please."

"Fine" I groaned and tossed him the blanket.

"Come on" he said and patted the ground beside him. I went and sat down next to him and he pulled the blanket over both of us

"The ground is still freezing" I complained, laying there using my arm as a pillow

I hear Thomas move closer to me and he put his arm around me. I rolled over and put my cold face onto his chest. "Better?" He asked and I nodded. "You smell like newt" he told me

I smiled "isn't it wonderful?" I asked

"Sure" he dragged out slowly and sarcastically

"Oh and Thomas?"

"Yeah?" He asked

"You're my best friend too" I told him.
