What do you mean the sky's gone?" He asked sitting up.
I continued to stare out the window. "It's just grey. I mean it's well it's gone"
"Come on we need to go" newt said and started out the door.
I walked after him to find newt, Thomas and Minho standing right outside the door. "Are you guys still running the maze today?" I asked, approaching the boys.
"If anything I think it's most important to run today since we don't know exactly what's going on" Thomas said
"Can I help?" I asked
"No" Newt said
"Yeah get me wax paper and scissors. Put them in the map room and lock up the maps" Thomas told me. My face much have looked very confused because Thomas then added "I'll explain later"
"I can do that" I said and laughed.

The day had slowly crept by, and finally the bell rang for dinner. I spotted Minho "find anything today?" I asked him.
"The glitch. It's weird but it's something." Minho said
"But nothing other than that?" I said, sort of let down.
"No. Nothing else." Minho said and looked at me "but don't worry. We will find a way out. I know it"
I smiled at Minhos positivity because usually he never shows any positive side. "Did you get my wax paper?" Thomas asked, coming up beside me.
"Yes but frypan was not happy about handing it over. He said we are running low since the box has stopped sending supplies." I said
"Perfect" Thomas said and a chorus of yells and screams erupted.
"What the hell" Minho said and looked around.
Newt came running up to us "is everyone alright?" He asked the three of us as we stood there, everyone else seeming to be moving hurriedly around us.
"What's going on?" Thomas asked
Someone ran into me and I stumbled into Thomas "slow down" Thomas yelled.
"Woah Jack what in the bloody world is going on?" Newt asked him.
"It's the doors. They aren't closing" he said and my stomach dropped. I looked towards the doors to see a group of boys standing by the doors with torches in their hands.
I was about to ask, but my fears were confirmed when I saw a large mechanical glob with spidery legs enter the glade. "Grievers" is all Minho said
I heard a cry behind me and turned to see Chuck. "Chuck it's going to be okay" Thomas told him
"Annabelle and Chuck I want you to go board up the windows to the homestead. Minho Thomas and I will get everyone to head your way" newt said
"Be safe" I told him, nodding
"Always" Thomas answered and they ran off
"Do you know what we are doing?" Chuck asked
"No but I can see some of the builders are ahead of newt already boarding up the windows" I said and he nodded, both of us running towards the building, not looking back as we heard flames crackling and screams.
"Chuck go inside and I will help out here" I told him
He looked like he was going to protest until a inhumane shriek filled the glade and he ran inside. "Hey what do I need to do?" I asked one of the boys as he boarded up one of the bottom windows.
"Get inside where it's safer. The rest of the boys will be here soon." He told me
"Annabelle" I turned to see Luke and Charlie running with a group of boys through the door.
"Charlie!" I breathed, glad to see a face I recognized
He wrapped me in a hug "get inside with us" he said and I nodded, following him inside
"Thomas Minho and newt aren't back yet" I told him
"They'll make it" he told me and I turned around to see three grievers heading west after a group of boys. I put my head into Charlie's chest And he led me inside
A group of boys stood against the back wall. Quiet and unmoving. I don't think any of them are breathing. "Quick get in" I heard Minho say behind me.
I let out a breath and turned around. "Close the door, quick" newt said as the last boys were running into the homestead.
Everyone ran to the back wall and sat there quietly while shrieks rang out in the glade. This is going to be a long night.
A griever climbed onto the roof of the homestead and dust wood started falling. I held my breath, hoping that would help.
'We are all dead' I thought and a giant mechanical hand came crashing through the ceiling. It grabbed a boy I didn't know but threw him towards the wall.
The hand came back down and grabbed Luke, pulling him through the ceiling. I heard Charlie gasp, but then all noise cut off.
The grievers are gone, they only took one person.
"Is everyone alright?" Alby exclaimed
"Luke's not" Charlie yelled
"Luke is a brother we will never forget" Alby said
"Is it over?" One of the boys asked
"I think so. We should have people stand guard while others sleep though just to be sure" newt said
"Newt Minho and I will take the first watch while you shuckfaces get some sleep" Thomas said
Everyone nodded and headed to rooms to crash in. I walked towards the door hoping to find someone I know. I saw Thomas, Minho and Newt sitting outside the door and I went and sat beside them. "Belle you're alright" newt said and out his arm around me
"You guys are too" I said and smiled
"Yes but we couldn't find you" Thomas said
"I was with Charlie and um Luke" I said quietly
"Well thank goodness you're okay" newt said and kissed my forehead
"Do you think the grievers are coming back?" Minho asked
"No I think they took one person on purpose" Thomas said "and I think they are going to keep coming back until we're all gone."
"Sounds bloody awful" newt said
"I've got it" Thomas said
"What?" I asked
"How to get out of here! I've got it" he said and I sat there watching the wheels turn in his head
"Spit it out" Minho said and Thomas shot him a look. "Babe" Minho added
"You stay here and keep watch. Newt, Annabelle and I will go" Thomas said and ran towards the maps
I followed toward him and when newt And I walked in he was laying out maps. "Each day we map a different sector of the maze. Instead of looking at each section individually, we need to look at the maze as a whole" he said and put the lag map into place, and sure enough the letter F was in the middle of the paper.
"Oh my god!" I said. "Is it just a coincidence?" I asked
"I don't know. I need you to keep repeating this process over and over and get as many letters as you can." He told Newt and I
I nodded and started laying out maps. Sure enough the next set made the letter L. I smiled and continued until my eyes got so heavy that I fell asleep on the maps.
